Roof insert captive hole's liners
Discussion
Hi all,
Does anyone have any idea where I can hold of 4 of these?
Or where they came from originally?
Mine are tatty (very very tatty actually) and allow a considerable amount of vertical movement with the solid roof panel in place.
There are two of these on the windscreen's header rail and two on the front edge of the soft top, that take the 4 lugs on the solid roof panel
Rather than fill, and file these, I think it would be good to have some better / new ones.

Thanks everyone.

Cheers Ziga,
I'll keep on the lookout and if I find any I'll let everyone know.
Failing that, it's going to be fill them with liquid metal and machine the groove for the lug to fit into to suit.
Seems a bit of a shame, as they're very visible with the roof off.
As I've only just got the car, I live in fear of the roof coming off as I whizz down the road somewhere, which I'm pretty keen to avoid!

I took mine out and they are with a mate who is working out the cost of making them in ally. I'll let you know the cost, if there is enough interest it may make it more cost effective.
Post interest on here. I'm also looking at doing something with the screen air vents.
Hi Adam..Me ole long lost bro...Post interest on here. I'm also looking at doing something with the screen air vents.

Hi MarkYour new car looks great BUT as a new Wedger I have to point out to you
that you just don't ever drive anywhere with the roof on!!!!!
True Wedgers have been seen driving in snow with the roof off
and it just makes us a little bit better than the softies in their Chimps
Certainly don't have the rear section raised "A La Chimp style" again
Come to the Fest just to see no one with a roof on
Hope that helps
Trickie
Cheers for that Trickie, I'll bear it in mind,
Although I am a bit concerned that I may lose the few remaining strands of hair that I've got!
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to go for the shaven look if that happens ;-)
I was speaking with Ziga earlier and he suggested I come down; so if I can get the car in a driveable state, I'll bring it along.
No matter what happens, even if I have to bail thoughts of bringing mine along, I'm still coming to check everything out.
Cheers for now and see you there.

Nearly correct.
In fact the roof guide is used as a seat belt guide by cutting the bottom off it so the belt can be threaded through it.
I think they are a TVR made part!
I might have a couple of good ones, but will have to get a friend to search for them!

We are having a Northern convoy to the Fest if you want to join us from Nottingham
Starts in the NE with Carob and Wedg1e, joined by myself and Mr WST from Leeds, Convert at Woodall Services
then others join all along down the Fosse Way to Ettington
Keep you eyes on the Forum
Cheers
Trickie
Thanks Trickie,
I'll PM you with my number so we can make sure we meet up en-route, on time, etc.
You'll have to go gently with me though, as this is my first outing with you guys and I've only had my car for 3 weeks so far, so still getting used to it.
I'm frantically trying to get it ready for the show, have spent all day working on the electrickery and apart from the drivers side window and the interior lights, it looks to be working.
Fingers crossed it'll all be done and alright to bring on the day!
All good so far though :-)
Andy,
What were they listed as?
Maybe the MGF ones that are on f-bay could be adapted to suit?
I had a look at the seatbelt guides and yes, they're exactly the same, with the bottoms hacksawed off and split across 1 face to let the seatbelt in, mind you, they do look like they've been cut by the factory's apprentice, the blind one they must have employed at the time specifically to do the task ;-)
Does anyone know of any other manufacturer's parts that could be adapted to fit?

If you are coming to the fest I will try and have a good used set (Like new) there!
