Scotland / Brittany Trip
Discussion
Well, well, well... Just arrived home from Brittany via Portsmouth, sadly I never took the Wedge as we sailed on Tuesday and arrived back Friday afternoon, yup yesterday during the heavy rain and gale force winds...
The crossing from Caen to Portsmouth was a 7 hour nightmare... So there was no point taking the wedge all that way for a short stay.. We took our wee Skoda Fabia VRS 1.9 TDi. And apart from the clutch that started slipping on the M6 Toll on the way down to Poole on Monday morning during a full bore start away from the pay gate (playing with an Audi) the car never missed a beat and 1400 miles later of spirited driving we got home today.. Yup, arrived in Portsmouth yesterday afternoon but with the weather the M40/M6 was a mare right upto 9.20pm where we gave in trying to get home to Scotland lastnight and got a Premier inn and stayed in Chester or there abouts.. With all the stop start driving i was sure the clutch was gonna pack in!
But, the wee Skoda got us home just!, after it gave Audi and BMW drivers a few good races on the motorway when the clutch gripped.. Its a right wee flier.
The run from Edinburgh to Dinan and St Malo, then home via Portsmouth only cost £120 in fuel. Now that couldn't be done in the 400SE, even if the VRS didn't have the soundtrack of the TIV.. Maybe some other time...
So Monday I've got to try and get the clutch done cheaply or we ain't gonna make the BBWF... Fingers eh.
Pahhhhh. But hey, we sat beside Michael Caine in first class from Poole to Cherbourg.. Every cloud n all that.

Sounds like you had some good fun, even though you had a problem with the Skoda. But the comments at the end, you will not be making the fest unless you have the clutch on the Skoda done?
Am I missing something, I didn't know that Skoda made a wedge?

Andy
Andy they did but some serious mistakes were made in the process...The cars stylist has embarrassed the company by exhibiting the new design at a coporate fleet contract meeting...He was dismissed later that day.

Gents gents gents. Nope, the Czech's didn't make a wedge, silly ! It's the impending (oucha) bill I'm gonna be hit with in the next week or so for the wee rockets clutch.. If I can limp to the end of the month then we will be At the fest... It's just a bill I wasn't expecting.
B@@@y Cars
And since when did replacing a clutch involve changing the dam Flywheel too, just adding further cost...
Barstewards!!!!!
Fingers crossed that all goes to plan and we will be at the fest...
But I did enjoy the run even if the weather wiz P£££.
