Looking for Cossie 2.9 Engine/Car.

I've now decided to go ahead and get a Cossie 2.9 fitted, so I have a bit more power, unleaded, and a 5 speed box.
Please let me know if anyone spots such a spare part !
I'm hoping that RT Racing will be able to do it for me,
and fix any other ailments they may find
I'm watching a couple of items on Ebay.
Hopefully the conversion can be completed while we still have some summer left

Put my back out last week, so the wedge certainly has more 'suppleness' than it's ageing owner
I'll certainly be fitting the strongest ujs I can find,
renewing bushes, and uprating the brakes (which are crap!). Chassis will be strengthened if necessary.
( I still recall the embarrassment of busting the chassis on a Dutton B plus I had years ago, during a mad blast around York city centre. Gave the spectators a laugh when the thing collapsed in a heap right outside the nightclub entrance

The car has Konis all round, and handles really nicely,
so I may leave springs and dampers alone for the moment, unless something is found to be broken.
I now just have to cut my outgoings down to about tuppence a week, to pay for it !

graham - I would be very interested to hear of your progress as I am trying to sort the same conversion on an S. A friend of mine previously had the conversion done to his 2.9 S by Peninsula but they have failed to reply to my e-mails.

No, seriously though, feel free to e-mail me if you are bidding on something and I'll hold off or whatever. At teh end of the day, its pointless to line the pockets of the seller between PHers so may as well contact each other if we are both bidding on an item.
To be honest I doubt my conversion would start until winter and its something that is going to have to be carefully considered. My mates conversion was to a later S with a wider track, upgraded (read stronger!) chassis and better brakes. The earlier S has all these stumbling blocks before the engine transplant can even be considered and I will have to address these points before considering.
Sounds a good idea.
As far as beefing up goes, I suppose it depends on driving style. We're only talking an extra 40 horses here.
As I have now evolved into a middleaged old fart, with CAREFUL imprinted on my forehead, the chance of ripping out the back axle, or frying the clutch is pretty remote these days.

yep, thats the one i was talking about - my mate Grahams - posts as GBgaffer and a really nice guy if you have any queries throughout your upgrades.
He had the work done at peninsula hence me mailing them first although a distinct lack of response suggests they arent so keen on my custom

Graham, let me know how you get on.( Noticed your post on the Scorpio site).
I'm fitting one to my Taz racer, the EECV ECU the later Scorpio uses is very tempramental. I would use an aftermarket management system if i was you unless you want to retain most of the Scorpio wiring and associated modules and sensors.

Looks like there's going to be quite a few 24v Tasmins around soon there's already one road car and there'll be 3 racers soon. not decided on the spec for mine yet.
The Granny i bought has got a split water hose and its a total git to get at the plenum has to come off together with the fuel rail etc etc but i'd love to have a blast in it before i strip it.

He did tell me though, that both T5 and MT75 boxes fit,
and Topboss are the people who do adaptor plates,etc.
(though you probably knew that).

They know everything about that lump and took all the development on from Cosworth.
The Jenvey throttle body kit is their spec...
400 quid is a good price for a running car. i bought mine for 310 with a split water hose and a crashed one with salvagable engine is 200 ish.
it makes sense to get a complete car as you need the loom and ecu that fitted that engine apparently there are differences between pre and post facelift.
You could probably get top boss to do the conversion. i believe they do sierra conversions quite cheep. they also do the all important exhaust system and use either wolf or omex ecu if you want to go that route.
Not used either myself just spoken to them and trawling the web forums

Be carefull with Top Boss. I have had a long dispute over items i bought which were either wrong or extremely bad workmanship.Took nearly 3 months to get my money back.
The problem you will have with the Ultima (BOB) engine is the electrics. Do not try to retain the management system or you will need most of the loom which is usually falling apart in and around the engine.
I have 2 and they are both the same condition.
Best to buy a runner but check for camchain and tensioner noise. Best part of £800 to put right DIY.
The existing 4 speed box and bellhousing on the 280i will bolt straight on, but fit a spigot bearing in the crank first!
