Hi all
This has probably been covered before but the search facility on this forum doesn't bring up any worthwhile results. i'm after a spare wheel for my 280i which has had some Image split rims fitted (15" with 205/65R15 tyres). Now i don't need a matching rim just something of the same size to throw in the boot as a spare. Is there in existence a list of vehicles that have the same size wheels as the Wedge ? Obviously an old Granada rim will fit but what about newer Fords- Mondeo/Focus?confused

If you had come to the BBWF you could have won a spare, several times over, eh Carob!!

Give Topton a shout on here, his boy eventually bought it in an auction.

Ive only had my taz for a couple of months and just use a tin of tyre weld rather than a spare. out of interest what size of tyre does everyone else have? Nt s2 280 has 195/50/r15 which seem a wee bit smaller than others....

I'm also using tyre weld - problem is if you get a puncture at any sort of decent speed on an A road or motorway by the time you get pulled over usually the tyres had it and no amount of tyre weld is going to repair the damage and get you mobile again. I think i'd much prefer a proper spare smile

205/60R/14 is standard on a Tasmin or a 280i

All the tasmin/280i models had 205/60VR14..From 1982-1983 some had 195/60HR14 but went back to the previous..The 350s had 15" wheels..The VR14 are really hard to get now although you can still get 205/60R14..The ones i have are a soft compound which are not the most expensive tyres but they are ok..I do have to change them each year but for under 50 squids a tyre balanced & fitted i cant grumble..Some people have replaced the 14" to a 15" rim just so they have more of a varied tyre choice..Ziga

Hi all
No one is really answering the original question - do the later Ford rims ( Focus Mondeo) fit? Ive heard that PCD will be ok but to be careful of Offset? I can pick up later ford rims for next to nothing but Granada rims are scarce.

I may be wrong but I think you may find lining up the 4 holes in the wheels with the 5 studs on the hubs a challenge!

It's true the earlier Mondeo/Focus models are 4 stud but the later versions have reverted to a 5 stud pattern. The S-max,C-max and Galaxy's are all 5 stud. Would give a nice cheap source of replacement alloys -IF they fit ? confused

What about volvo or vauxhall..They have 15" and are 5 stud..I suppose sometimes its a matter of trial and error..Ziga

Why don't you just find out what the offset and PCD of the newer wheels are and then compare with the old ? confused

Check out the Ford forums.

^ This + Granada MkII and Mercedes of the era (possibly others), don't know about spigot diameters and offsets though.

A lot of wedge owners think the cars are a bit 'fussy' about the style of wheels fitted, so if you change for something modern, rounded and blingy they could easily look... well... sh!t. biggrin
