Sounds like a hot engine problem... Do the simple stuff like check the ignition wiring and make sure that nothing has come loose or burnt / melted thru. Check the various connector plugs on the top of the engine clean and reconnect. If no change then do some simple checks on swopping components, remember connections and swop out coil, dizzy ignition amplifier and plug and king leads. Take a few plugs out and check colour and presence of fuel on the plugs. Finally check the connectors on the thermo dyne switch and temp sensor. If you have a close by wedge owner try a ECU swop.

Let us know how you get on fella

So have you been driving it for the last week?...I do remember having the same issues and they were intermittent and i had spates working one week and not the next..But then it became more frequent..When it cuts out does it restart if you let it cool down?...It might still be worth checking the fuel accumulator to see if this is causing fuel pressure to drop away as it can give the same symptons as a vapour lock...Ziga

During the week it was fine but only nipped out for short trips, 15 mins top three different nights. Once it cools down it starts but wont idle. i flattened the battery again in my annoyed mood and went to the pub. so not tried it since the f1 started.

It does sound familiar..Eventually mine would only run for twenty minutes to half hour and then it wouldnt re-start until it was totally cold..If you can either test the accumulator or clamp the return fuel line from the metering head which is the one going back to the tank, Not the one coming from the fuel filter to the metering head, Warm up the car to normal operating temperature and then clamp the pipe while its running and then turn off..Then release the clamp and turn it over, It might be easier with two people..If it starts ok try it a few times and if it starts everytime then it would point to the accumulator leaking, Or remove the electrical green plug on the metering head and then clamp the pipe coming out of the accumulator that goes to the fuel filter..Turn the key to the first position..Not cranking..and the fuel pump should be heard running, Then check to see if fuel is leaking from the rear of the accumulator..It will be visible if it is as you will see it dripping out..If this happens then by-pass the accumulator and you should be ok..If you still have problems then you might have to have the metering head refubed but try this first...Ziga
