Location of the fan switch on a 1985 350i
Discussion
I'm having trouble locating the fan switch on my 1985 350i. It certainly is not on the radiator.
On the engine I found the sender for the temp. gauge inside of the car.
On the LH side of the thermostat housing (viewed from inside the car) I have 2 other sensors, each with a Bosch EV1 plug connected to it. I thought these 2 were for the engine management.
Is the fan switched hidden somewhere else?

Hi,
On my 350i the switch is not fitted to the radiator but on the long steel swan neck pipe which connects the thermostat housing to the top feed from the radiator via a couple of rubber pipes. Its down near the lowest point of the pipe with the two terminals facing vertically upwards. I think there are several variations on this theme depending on what they had lying around at the time.

It's not the intention to put a manual switch.
Yesterday the fan didn't cut in due to a corroded connection of the fan.
I've put 12V directly to the fan and it works. I've fixed the connection but was wondering where the fan switch was located.
I'll have a look on the piping, maybe I've missed it. Thanks for the info.
