There is a interesting topic going on in 'General TVR Stuff and Gossip' under 'TVR Market Buoyant'.
One thing comes to mind, they have never mentioned the 'WEDGE' range. Plenty on Chims, Griffs, Tuscan, T and Sag, but when it comes to Wedge, nothing.
To me the Wedge should be up there with the rest of them, its obvious we don't get a look in within the TVR world.....

The Topic starts of on TVR parts etc with a closure of a dealer. Then turns to what TVR range will be worth in years to come. IE when classic etc.
Every other TVR range is mentioned, not us though!

Guy's it's a simple one really, they are jealous of the noise, the looks and the attention a wedge gets.i am only interested in prices going up if i ever was to sell but i would only do that to trade up to a bigger badder wedge so it wont help me.

Why don't you join that thread with your thoughts instead of skulking in here whinging? wink

You Wedgies own the forefathers to the Griffs and Chimps and do more furtling than any other group of owners so have lot to add but you seem to self segregate in your own forum and don't exactly go out of your way to welcome the owners of other Tivs. biggrin

No one has forgotten the Wedge. It's what got most of us into Tivs. So stop feeling brow beaten and join the party. smile

The only reason they aren't talked about in the main forums is because you owners aren't joining in like the others.

I wouldn't worry about it. Do they mention earlier cars? The original Tuscan maybe?

I personally dont give a toss as i love all TVRs but have found that the wedge community are in the majority of down to earth nice people..I have experienced some right tts driving mainly the top end TVRs...You can stick it where the sun dont shine..I have friend's on here who drive chims..griffs and cerbs and they are all cool..My old girl is a 30 year old 280 and if i manage to keep it for the next 20 years it will be a 50 year old car that will probably be worth double what any of the later cars will be..If its not i dont give a shyte..Im not in it for the investment..Im here to have a little fun and re-live my best years which were the 80s..Which was probably the last time this country was great!!...Yes lets join the party but if your not wearing a ralph lauren and drinking dom perignon then you might as well be wearing a string vest and drinking cider!!...Pretentious load of bullst....Rant over..As you were...Ziga

Well said Ziga clap
Although our cars being worth double some of the Tiv's out there; I'm not holding my breath for that smile

Would be good if it did though after another 20 years of driving them thumbup

As for drinking cider and wearing a string vest!!!!! What's wrong with that wink I'm sure I saw you in just that scenario, or was that beer as opposed to cider and topless as opposed to a string vest laugh

Absolutely right Mr Zigga. The 1980s I think was the last good decade. If I could have a Groundhog decade it would be the 80s!! Cars, music (and trains) were still interesting, and , of course, the wedges were the top TVR of the time !!

Why should it matter what one is wearing or drinking? wink

It's the cars that join us all together.

There is no point in whinging about your car not being discussed on a thread when you aren't even willing to start that part of the discussion but prefer to run away and whinge about it instead. wink

The general forums could do with more input from Wedgers rather than Wedgers hiding away feeling all downtrodden and woe is me. biggrin

Well, personally I think wearing a string vest is wrong. I mean, what will you look like when you take it off after the sun has been at you?

I think that all manufacturers gave a model that they're slightly embarrased by , for Porsche think 924 -Ferrari the 308gt4 - For TVR it's the wedge. Don't know why this should be as the wedge was the car (in my opinion) that really launched TVR into the public eye. Maybe it's just me me but I do get the vibe that owners of other Tvrs view the wedge as a bit of a poor relation to the rest of the model range. Not sure if it's the styling or the fact that the values of wedges are low so they're seen as 'cheap' or what but that's the feeling that seems to come across when talking about TVR's to others

There is probably an element of this but for those people it is their loss.

I also think that now all Tivs are getting old the number of people who bought them for the image they had at that moment in time when they were new have mostly moved on to other marques where they can obtain the same benefit.

What we are left with mostly now are genuine Tiv enthusiasts and the Wedge was the end of one era and the start of another with cars like the SEAC being very important parts of Tiv history.

I think also that to bring 'them and us' attitudes into a single marque misses the entire point of being part of that marque. All that matters is the badge on the front, the one thing that all owners have in common, the common ground that brings all walks of British life together.

If anything, I feel that it is the Wedgers themselves who bring the attitude of thinking that others believe the Wedge cars to be in a different league.

Without the Wedges or the S cars there wouldn't have been the Chimp or the Griff, the original DNA runs strongly through those cars.

It does seem like the Wedge owners are bringing the 'them and us' attiude to the melee though. wink

I'm not a wedge fan - there, I've said it! But I also don't get that excited about the "modern" TVRs. I appreciate what they do, love the noise, just don't get that excited by them.

I've always been a fan of curves so I just don't think I could bond with a wedge. Not so much the outside looks for me, I'd just never be happy sat behind a dash designed by a bloke that only used a ruler (sorry Oliver!).

But having said all that, wedges are the first TVRs that really entered my consciousness (it's my age). I remember visiting a company for work and one of the guys had a SEAC in their workshop. It was an amazing beast. Getting V8s back in TVRs was a massive step in what happened later.

So in the same way I'm not that bothered about a Sagaris, I'm also not that excited about wedges. But I appreciate the heritage and suspect that without them we wouldn't have had everything that followed. Tastes change and it wouldn't surprise me in a few years if pointy TVRs are more popular than curvy ones - who knows?

But as DonkeyApple says, they are all TVRs, I personally would love to see more wedges at events as well as S's and pre-80s cars. More wedge contributions to forums are fine with me too. I might not want to own one but happy to talk about 'em!

Thanks for the measured response, no only by you, but by all who're posting.
I do find it a little bit of a let down that people do tend to look down their nose at us wedge owners, although I don't own a string vest and I can't stand Cider (vile stuff), I thought fruit was only meant to be eaten, not drank, and then not in too large a quantity.
At the few meets I've attended recently I've noticed a complete dearth of wedges, don't know if it's my location here in Nottingham, or whether there just aren't as many around as there are chims & cerbs out there, all of the the guys I've met have been very encouraging about my car and have been pretty inclusive in involving me in their conversations, making for a very enjoyable experience all round.
Since buying my car earlier this year, the reason I've stayed mainly on the Wedge forum, is because that is where most of the wedge relevant information / experience and enthusiasm resides within the PH community, although I'm happy to be re-educated smile
The BNG is the next event I'm planning on attending and I'm looking forward to meeting with lots of other TVR enthusiasts (substitute nutter / halfwit / whatever you feel most appropriate) on the day.

Cheers for now from a very happy TVR owner, who just happens to drive a wedge thumbup

Thanks - understand the reason for sticking to the wedge forum. Likewise, the S forum on here is a fantastic source of knowledge - vital to keep these cars on the road, where they belong.

I'm in Notts too so you're not alone around here - at least if you count someone that has cars bracketing the wedge decade wink

I love all TVR'S but do find I get looked down on by a small percentage of higher end tvr owners. it don't bother me one bit though as they don't know what I know having driven one.
