Hi peeps..Got the rebuilt WUR back today from KMI, Fitted it and test drove the car..It does feel a bit better although im going to have to stick it on the rolling road again as it doesnt feel like i have gained the 30-40 bhp which is missing...He built me a WUR with a small amount of adjustment as i might go for stage 1 heads so i can up the fuel if needed..Im going to get my CO checked tomorrow to see if it is ok..Im still getting a whiff of raw petrol but its not coming from the pipe that i fixed..Im guessing its coming from the pipe that joins the two tanks as that has the type of hose with a spiral helix in it and that leaked when i used it on the filler neck...Hopefully i can get it into dan taylor as i have the majority of new hose to go on and im not crawling around under the car getting covered in petrol...cheers...Ziga

Also got some new indicators to go on....Just need to re-drill as the existing holes dont line up..

Zig, if you are now running a straight through exhaust, I would put good money on that being where your ponies are escaping.
I had straight through pipes and used removeable inserts in my tail pipes made by Pipeworx to give some back pressure....with them out my motor made 255bhp (fecking loud though) with them in it made of 275...both figures from a rolling road and where taken within 1/2 an hour with no other adjustment.

If you don't mind me asking where did you get those indicator / side lights from? I got some fresh ones recently and had to remove the front bumper and cut out the profiled rear section behind the lights at they simply wouldn't fit!

Hi Tony...I did think that could be the cause, I have cherry bomb mid silencers and did have similar type rears but when i asked the ford guy he said that he has known people with big bore and no exhausts on capris and it never made a difference..Although it makes sense, I might get some push ins and have it tested..Cheers..Ziga

Simple reason why the don't fit. They are not original units, similar but not the same, thus the reason why they don't fit!

I'd have been happy to drill a few holes but that's a completely different proposition to hacking the arse out of my bumper. so, evaluating the amount of don't fit might be of interest.

They seem to only fit into the early series bumper's albeit tight unless anyone else has fitted them..Were the originals from a renault 14?..Are the ones from RT the same...

Mine were from RT. The screw holes lined up but the rear profile was projected too far backwards, particularly around the bulb mounting area, so they wouldn't fit into the recess. I know they were originally Renault parts but not sure which model so you could be right with the 14. Does your bumper have a void within the mounting flange area rather that a contoured GRP backing?

Just looked at the ones from RT and they are exactly the same...My bumper has a cut out section which the unit sits in and there are two holes which allow the holders to sit in.
Renault 14 look very similar but i have searched for about an hour and couldnt find any...there is probably some on the french snailbay...
Heres my bumper...Im sure chris fitted the same ones in his 350 bumper...

Sounds like the after market items doing the rounds are from the same manufacturer and there are some subtle differences between bumpers. Oh well at least they fit with a little modification to the bumper and look a damn sight better that the 26 year old ones. I bought some new rear lights from a Renault dealer 10 years ago but didn't get the fronts as they looked OK at the time... Wish I had now. Good luck with the adjustable WUR, hope it does the trick.

Simon.

Hi

If they are all plastic, then they are not originals! The best thing is when you have them fitted they wil not rust like the originals!

Hi Mark

Early cars had in fact a differant unit to the middle age cars and on the later cars even had completly differant units, fron another french manu. The original units were British not french!

Hi mark

The early side/indicator lights were the same as the lights used on late 'M' and the lens screws were in the middle of the sides. The next type (The common ones used) had the lens screw in opposite corners. The later ones which is were the confusion comes from were Pugot and fitted on 400 etc. But no doubt somebody will say different!

Headlights on 280i and 350i were standard british 7" as fitted on various cars! The head lights on 400 etc I don't know what they are from, I should but as I haven't had to changed one yet, I haven't done any homework on them!

The driving lights on 350i were Cebie units also fitted on Pugot 205 GTI and please don't start on the rear lights!

Now you can add this to your list of facts to pass on when they next come up on the forum, which they will do in about six months or so!

Thanks Andy...It seems that the M series used Triumph dolomite/Toledo & Aston martin front indicators...Peugeot 104 are also very similar except they have a little convex on the front over each bulb...They are all like rocking horse doo doo to find...typical...Cheers...Ziga
