Steering column bushes
Discussion
Hi
I have removed my steering column to rebuild, expecting to find 2 white nylon bushes but there aren't any, hence don't know if I have bought the right bits? The car is a '86 350i with the square/ flat light switch on the left, is this sd1 or tr7 column and should my car have the bushes fitted ?

You're not getting much help. I had mine replaced but it was a single plastic-y off-white (IIRC) part that bolted in between the bulkhead and the cover that the shaft goes through.
That's vague because I hired the job out which involved dropping the the rack and other bits. Wound up being something like a 5 hour job. But that was the first time he had ever seen a TVR- future jobs were quoted "But with your car, sir,..."

Hi
I have replaced the bottom 'through the bulkhead' bush with a sealed bearing as per the article in the maintainance section on here. Whilst doing that I slid the inner from the outer column expecting to find the 2 white sleeve bushes in the same article, but there wasn't any there? It's all back together and better than before but there is still some movement or flex which I think might be the top mount flexing, but still curious as to the location of the bushes waiting in the garage?

I used the following site to do my '86 280i. Not much fun, but I managed it.
