My 280i (US series 1.5), when purchased had a clutchfan that screwed onto the waterpump shaft with a L H thread.
Removal required the water pump to be split from timing cover as the clutch fan covered the shaft completely leaving no purchase to unscrew it.
I put an electric fan that was not upto the job, not many options on the size of an electric fan due the protusion of the waterpump shaft.
I have just junked the electric fan and with Grady's tip was able to get a new clutch fan and adapter from Norm @ Team Blitz.
In the manual removal of fan and clutch is "remove the four bolts"
Did anybody else have this problem with a screw on Clutch fan?
TVR mis-engineering or Previous owner!

PS
Thanks Grady and Norm

Just take out two of the 4 bolts which hold the pulley in place.
That way you have enough room to swing a normal sized spanner (wrench).

When you've tightened the big nut (on the fan) fully, you'll have enough space to replace the pulley bolts.

Hope that makes sense.
