Who's parts bin supplied our dash switches?

Not sure what they came off originally but I know they were also used on the early Lotus Esprit's.

They are similar but not the same. No electric window one either?

I got a few as spares from Douglas Valley last year when my electric window one went pear shaped, all taken from an Esprit. Maybe worth a search in breakers Yards.

On a similar useless note - I think those various (TR7 ?) and Wedge switches were also used in Scimitars, but God knows what Scim dealers will charge for them.....

Apparently you can still get the older 'arrow' switches as used in the Vixens etc, but of course they are not original to wedges....

You can still get the headlight switches but you will struggle to find the others...I think they were used on Austin princess/TR7 (Late)/Ford mexico although...They had a chrome edge....Here's a couple of places..I think rimmer bros have run out...

They are indeed off a TR7 and there's plenty of those knackered things around.I got a heater switch for £2.50 from ebay a while a go for mine.

Some of the switches are as used in other BL cars of the era (Princess, TR7, Range Rover etc.), however - I think some of them were failr 'custom' order from the Lucas parts book.

As mentioned - things such as the electric window switches are made from unobtanium!

I was lucky enough to pick up a switch panel out of an old Range Rover for a fiver. It had the all important hazard lighting switch, and there were enough similar switches that - push come to shove, I could probably rebuild some switch bodies.

In time though - I do suspect a lot of us may have to convert to some more generic switches.

Been mulling this for a while, generic size, suitable mounting plate to fit behind the wood effect. Problem is not seen many after market switches that do not look like they are made of chocolate and suitable in a TVR fasion. Slipped off my to do list for 18 months though. Might start looking again soon.

I have repaired two, one was past recovery so only half works, the blower.

I purchased several from that CBS kit car parts supplier.

Most of his plastic switches have a lousy feel to them. I compared them with a brand new Ford switch and there's no comparison.

Unfortunately the finish to the bezels are not the same and I'm not into mix and matching.

I think I may try and find an early Ford, maybe Escort/Mondeo that has all the switches that I want in the same style.

I considered going to the ali finished switches but they are not inexpensive.

I will be making up a new centre panel for clocks & switchgear as I have seven clocks in place of five so even more important that everything looks right and symmetrical.

I don't know what's more brain numbing, switchgear or upgraded headlamp selection.

They are from the tr7 but not all of them are on the car-e.g , the fan one is actually a headlight switch relabelled! I bought one and jus swapped the outer casing

FYI - The hazard switch is not from a TR7, it's from a Range Rover (PRC4156). Looks the same but 7 vs 8 pins. Grady

The switches come from the Lucas 182SA series; they are assembled from interchangeable parts so you can use, say, the internal contacts from a light switch to repair a fan switch, and so on.

I'm upwards of 99% certain they never saw the light of day in any Ford (Mk2 Escorts and the like had big rocker switches, not levers like these). Ford always seemed to have an aversion to using any suppliers that also fed into BL or the Rootes Group.

There were also a couple of variations on the theme; some have the switch logo in the window, some had it embossed on the end of the lever. Also, some had smooth ends to the levers and some were ribbed. I doubt 'extra pleasure' was a design consideration
