AJP V8 in a Wedge
Discussion
Damm - it's been done !
I've always fancied the idea of an AJP 4.2 / 4.5 V8 in a wedge .. but that Al Melling guy did the development in a Wedge .. in 1994 !

It doesn't actually say that... it says 'the wedge he used while he did the AJP development', ie he may have just been driving one at the time.... Ian

Rev, have you ever seen Al Melling? OK so the AJP engine would fit in the wedge (compact motor) but I don't think Al would himself! I'll leave that to your imagination. Also doesn't the fact that AJP engine 'pieces' come up regularly for sale on Ebay tell you something? when was the last time you saw a complete good running AJP for sale? better sticking to the Rover V8 motor - easier to get tuning parts ( can go to over 400 bhp without forced induction), unbelievably cheaper (have you ever seen specs for completely rebuilding an AJP outside the factory - or even just torquing down the head bolts!) running an AJP in a wedge could be fun (for a short while) , but only for the foolhardy! I dare you! Mr Scott
The Wedge was a good development tool for TVR. I worked in Land Rover Powertrain in the early 90's and we had a Wedge from TVR to do some Hot Wire EMS work. The car was a C plate and was - well - err - a definite development car.
It was trailing arm converted to A frame, had a series 2 body but series 1 bonnet and the twin tail pipes. It had been LHD but was now RHD and the dash was hanging out. It was originally a 3.5 then an AR 3.9, then an NCK 4.0 and when we got it it had the intended Griff 4.3 BV engine in it. The chaps at TVR weren't very happy when we took it back with the tyres down to the canvass at the back - we did loan them a new 4.2 Range Rover LSE prototype in return!
Would have been an interesting car to buy - I think it was scrapped.
It's hard work this powertrain stuff you know - we also had to do some back to back benchmarking with V8 cars such at the original V8S press car (H15VBS), the press Griff, MGRV8, Morgan Plus 8, Porsche 928 S4, Rolls Royce!! hard life. (mind I still preffered my Wedge)
