450SE Dipstick Sleeve

An unusual request here. I have a 450SE with a snapped dipstick sleeve that someone has somehow managed to break and bodge a repair so it is leaking oil. Trouble is I can't find a replacement as I don't know how long it is meant to be. If someone could maybe measure theirs and tell me the length that would be very helpful. Or better still if someone has a spare one going!?

Won't it be standard RV8?

I guess you meant Rover V8 not MG RV8. They are all different lengths depending on the engine size unfortunately. I don't think they make my size anymore but I'd like to be sure which is why it would be helpful if someone can measure theirs.

How on earth does a person break a dipstick tube?

Just a thought... if you don't find the correct length, you could always scribe new full/add lines on your dipstick.

8 inches from the top sleeve to where it enters the block.

Thanks for the info. I think someone has been moving it from side to side in the past to get at a spark plug behind. That's the only logical reason I can think for it having broken.
