Even if it works not much use on a wedge?

Only suitable for engines up to 2.5 ltrs!
Guess we could fit one on each bank!
(would this mean 16 - 30hp gain?)

A load of old cobblers IMHO.
When you consider the power required to spin a supercharger to get ay kind of useful increase in induction pressure, I can't see a little electric fan doing the business.

There are several people spamming ebay with adverts for various sorts of "electric superchargers", they are all pretty laughable but clearly the people who wrote this advert didn't even make much of an effort to make it convincing. Its a poor advert for something which is worse than useless. Has anyone looked closely at the picture of one of these gizmos installed on a 'race car'? It looks rather like a photoshop job to me.

Surely just a way to try and get air in faster - colder ! ? There seem to be a lot of induction kits trying to do this.

Was thinking of ducting my filter to feed it more cold air, then I saw a superb stainless adaptor on a 430 that wrapped around the filter to direct air from the bonnet vent. Looked very nice.

Maybe 2sheds can Knock some up in ss ? Or else it's out with the glue and coke cans for me

I think that getting more money out of ebayers faster and cooler is higher on the priority list of the scamsters selling this rubbish.

I've got a supercharger and am considering spinning it up with a starter motor. The rationale is this: it doesn't take any h.p. from the engine to spin it up (apart from the load via the alternator).
Also I don't think I'll need it most of the time, just to blow away those annoying chipped hot hatches. So I'll have it on a gearknob-mounted switch plus a microswitch on the throttle.

The only gotcha is whether the starter motor will have enough grunt for this purpose. I reckon one from a large diesel car would be the best bet (as it needs to counter much higher cranking loads).

I'm going to bench-test it first before trying it for real. Any suggestions (apart from "You're barking, sir") gratefully received.

Lol, have to agree with GreenV8S on the "Photoshop" suspicion. Take a look at the Race Car installion picture on ebay and notice if anything looks a bit odd? How about the fact that it's only installed on the air intake of ONE bank of cylinders...

Would love to see what that did in real life!!!

Hi Dan
At least it's shiney, although can't see it being used much as body jewellery. The race car picture could be TVR body piercing with a shiney fan cover in the middle?! Fat load of use for anything else. Hey, we could try hooking a couple of the 12v high volume computer case fans up to the front of the intake. Probably be just as useful & darn sight less than £150.

(Oh and the car is back on the road and T is trying to behave herself and run it in )

Hi Jerry,

Perhaps if the seller advertised them as auxilary windscreen demister fans more Wedge owners would be tempted... Actually, perhaps theres a way to fit "supercharged" PC case fans into the heater pipework to improve such matters! Being 12 volt that may be a good idea! *pours JD and coke to help thinking*

TVR body piercing hey - I think you'd be a bit p*erced off if you'd just spend 150 quid on a hair dryer motor...

Glad the Wedge is still running ok. You sorted that air filter out yet?

Dan

(Getting 2 more piercings this week by the way - not going to be able to walk again :'-( )

What a laugh. Is it April already?

An Electric fan that also cools the air that passes through it! That would be worth patenting.

They might work if used like a jet engine - just fit half a dozen in your boot with the outlets facing rearward & flick the switch! Don't forget to open a window first or your lungs will collapse.

No worse than those roaring valves tapped into your intake manifold though.

The secret is to believe. If you think it will work you'll think it does.
