Well its about that time to change the half shaft U/J's. So does anyone have the HD Hardy Spicer part numbers? This will be the ones with the grease nipples fitted. My car is a late 350i S2 1989 but it has the 400SE type drive shafts fitted

Much appreciated in advance1

Chris

Just tried to call you,

Give me a shout, Ive got a spare pair in the garage that you can refurb first and then swap out relatively quickly, and Ill take the others off ya to refurb at some point!
Might even be cheaper to buy 2 sets of U/Js ?

Hi,

Would changing the whole drive shaft mean that the camber adjustment would need to be checked?

Thanks

Good point - it might need re-shimming due to tolerances in the length - so I would take each one off and replace UJ's and put back in the same place.

part 18200 (type 1410+ lub) from GKN direct (size 30.2mm x 106.3mm) cost me £53 for 2 inc. delv. earlier this year. Don't go for the HD version of this joint, as years ago Richard Thorpe (I think) told me that they would not fit the yokes - something o do with more material around the centre section I think. The standard version with grease is fine.
