The 350SE story!
Discussion
Hi
Well as you remember a couple of months ago there was a lot of debate about a 350SE up for sale as it was claiming to be no 6 and another owner was also claiming he had no 6!
Well the car was sold and the new owner asked me to resolve the problem ref what his car is!
So I have been asking 350SE owners to help and I can now answer the question!
As you know the 350SE was the last run of 350i by the factory and they built 25. So you would think that sorting out the problem was not going to be hard.
Well in the end it was not.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the owners and past owners for your help!
As usual with TVR there are always a few things with them which cause myths etc to start and the 350SE was a typical case!
The first myth I have dispelled is they did not have chassis numbers to match the cars id number as reported in various postings etc!
I have only found one chassis number which match the car id number, and that was no 4.
Part of the SE pack were the SE wheels, but later in production they were offored for sale with standard OZ wheels to help sell the cars!
Then there was the case of a 350i being made at a later date by the factory in SE spec to replace a car which had been writtern off, I can't prove or disprove that but I can say knowing TVR they would build any spec of car if they had the bits and a customer for it!
Now the question of the two cars with the ID number 6!
Well by checking the chassis numbers etc the car which was in doubt has been proved to be a 390SE which had been damaged and repaired by a previous owner and some how been marked as a 350SE why, well I will leave you to decided why!
The new owner is happy with my findings (As is the other owner of no 6) and I think he is now going to depict it as a 390SE to stop the confussion!
He has a very nice car and to now have it correctly identified as a 390SE means he can if he wants to sell it in future, can with out any problem's about what it is!

This could be as simple as the non-availability of 390SE decals after the repair, alternatively it may not.............which was in doubt has been proved to be a 390SE which had been damaged and repaired by a previous owner and some how been marked as a 350SE why, well I will leave you to decided why....
