Mines pretty ok mechanically so just a service on that side of things. Cosmetically the interior needs tidying up some new carpet, dash sorting out a bloody good polish on the paintwork and if I can afford it a new soft top smile

I'll be leaving mine so it can be used on the odd days you get in winter when it is dry, sunny and just above zero. Nothing else quites wakes you up in the same way as driving around with the roof down on days like those smile

Took the offside sill cover off today, got a bit of fabrication and welding to do...

Plus fit a replacement gearbox (old one's whining), new cam, injector clean, sort oil leaks (hopefully), new engine cooling fan, sort wiring for fan and spotlights - and I spotted a rad leak today. Plus all the other things that will come to light in the course of the above...

And if I'm really keen, I need to sort out the cracked front spoiler and dodgy bumper rubber trim.

Tidy list there Martin biggrin

Mine...well I still need to sort out new bushes for the A-frames, diff cradle etc. Already have new wheel bearings and UJs to go in; blasted most of the bits earlier in the summer but didn't get any paint on so they've got surface rust and need doing again banghead
The rear brakes need sorting; might have to tickle the pistons in the lathe as I suspect they're binding; hard to see any other reason why a complete rebuild failed to stop them sticking on. I've had a camera down the flexi line and it's not collapsed as some suspected, but I may as well go for new flexis all round as they are probably the 25-year-old originals.
Meanwhile I started modifying some Montego seat slides, that job ground to a halt due to work... also need to repair the glovebox lid hinges as the screws are no longer gripping the GRP in the dash and the lid is slacker than a Middlesbrough college girl after two J2Os.
For several winters I've been meaning to drop the silencer, cut it open and replace the wadding; it's a stainless can but the wadding won't have been and has long since departed. I need the TIG practice anyway wink

So lots to do and no time to do it. However things are happening at work; time to renegotiate contracts and I'm going for either shorter hours or a sight more money! Not holding my breath over either...

Ian,

What's the deal on the rear brakes? I was following your rebuild thread with interest and have since tackled the SEAC rear calipers - lockwiring was a real b*st*d.

Did you use stainless pistons, Were you happy with them? I've had some pretty shocking bits sent to me for my cars when I thought I was ordering quality stuff...

I am starting the winter off by getting a custom made rear exhaust section made up next week then i need to do the bushes on the remote linkage then a bit of painting on the rear a frame, both rear bearings have got a bit of play in them and if after this i have ant doch left want to replace the bushes on the outer a frame and new springs and shocks. dont let the wife know though.

Yes, I did fit stainless pistons. They seemed to be a close enough match dimensionally with the originals so I didn't envisage a problem. However the first time I drove it afterwards, the same seizing problem occurred as before, cooking the new pads and dust seals (aptly named as they turned to dust...) and leading to brake failure. I've stripped them back down but fail to see a problem.
Someone did suggest the flexi hose collapsing but I got one of our micro fibrescopes down it at work and it looks fine.
