White FHC on the flea
Discussion
Hi Mark
Thanks for the info!
Found it and the white conv.
In fact both of them are in the wrong place one in classic cars and the other in miscellaneous cars when they should be in the TVR section!
I had a look at the conv clip on y-tube and to my surprise found this!

Takes me back a couple of years to the NEC show! I hope this years will be as good!

Hi
Yes that a nice car, but in fact its a series 3 not 2 and its not American spec its the last spec the factory did for the UK market they built 10 then production of the 280i stoped!
The confusion arises from the factory using bits left over from American cars (They had stopped building for the US by then) The Body was a moulded one like the 400/450 series cars and it had rubber inserts to the bumpers (Smaller than the Amercain cars)
The dash is not a 400SE dash its a early SEAC dash, well you might think that but when I took the dash out of the Rose's car (The first series 3 car) the dash had written on it "for US market" and this is confirmed in the Bible and her car is the last entry made in the bible history line!
So was the early SEAC dash actualy made for the US market and then put on to the SEAC?
Series 3 280i dash!

SEAC dash

The first 4 or 5 SEAC's in fact had a standard 350i style dash then they went to the above and the last few then went to the 400/450 5 clock style dash!
Unless somebody knows different!

Here's another one, but this WAS a US export model....from when Wedg1e was visiting my place in his Esprit, with the then owner. (My red 390 and also my 280i FHC in the background).
.

Yep, seem to recall it was ordered by a woman serving in the US Forces in Germany but why it was RHD is a mystery. Ste sold it to a local guy about 3 years ago but to this day I've never seen the car around..

As I recall it had square sill tubes like a 400SE but was an earlier car than my '87 390SE. Its dash was the later style with the large centre panel but flat rather than angled towards the driver (per Andy's pics above). It also had the Mk 3 Granada stubby column switchgear.
