Hi peeps..Got a call from the ford garage earlier and an engine that was put aside for someone else is up for grabs..It was rebuilt about 4 years ago and hasnt done a lot of miles since..He offered to supply and fit for 500 sobs which is a really good price..I can also store my old engine there until its time to send it off for the rebuild..Then i can sell the other engine later on..Delilah is showing signs of imminent death so it looks like its come at the right time..The only thing is im putting the money into the wedge and BNG calendar so the wonga is tied up for a while..Still...

good to see you can drive around while original engine being fettled and made ready for the blower...
NB. the original Ford power steering pump and bracket fouls on the fuel injection module and air filter (from your previous comment somewhere) Capri 2.8 had a narrow air filter box.
With the blower though, you'll probably be relocating stuff anyway.

Hi Mate...The supercharger goes onto the drivers side of the engine, I have to replace my existing power steering pump with the ford unit..The plenum has to be turned round 180 degrees..The front chassis strut in front of the crank pulley has to be modified due to the size of the blower's pulley..The pipes to the heater matrix have to be removed which is cool as im re-designing the heater system anyway..The box that sits uner the top bonnet vent will have to go so the pipe work for the blower will fit..And the brake proportional valve might have to be moved or replaced with a controllable unit..Its not too much in the great scheme of things and while the engine is out i can get in there and clean up the engine bay...I will need to have all the drivetrain mods done before the engine gets upgraded and the blower fitted...Im hoping to get it started by spring next year..But in the meantime at least i will be able to enjoy any worthy driving weather..Cheers..ZigaWith the blower though, you'll probably be relocating stuff anyway.

Not sure I'd want to be cutting the crossmember Mark, could you not raise the engine on bigger mounting rubbers to give you enough clearance? Pretty sure mine is high enough but then it's sitting on custom made engine mounts. I'll check tonight for you.Mark,
DON'T do that, have a careful look at the V8's and you'll see that TVR changed that crossbar for two angled bars which go down to centre of the big thick chassis crossmember. They had to do that to get clearance for the Rover engine front accessories. The later 2.8 had the same change - so I would recommend going for the two angled bars instead.
I'm sure one of the V8 guys here must have a good pic to show those front bars ??? (Hint...)

Thanks Hatter -
I was worried that the mod suggested has no effective strength (not compared to a straight bar anyway), and remembered seeing pics of the later chassis style. I didn't realise that the angled bars don't actually join the main crosspiece....OK. I'm sure I've seen chassis photos which do, but live and learn and all that.
I still reckon the angled bar design is better than Mark's suggested mod, even without any other chassis changes......I wonder how strong the chassis is without any bars at all ? It looks pretty damn strong to me anyway. Any comments ?

Hi Andy...TBH this mod was suggested by the ford mechanic and was only an idea and im glad i posted it up on here, I think i would of looked into it a bit more anyway as i dont want any stress caused elsewhere on the chassis due to any weak spots..I have found a pic of a 280i chassis that has the angled cross member..But it looks like it will foul the crank pulley wheel, Some serious measuring is needed...Cheers...Ziga
