ive been looking at the race car thread, how difficult is to convert the pop ups to the flush lights, anyone know?
been looking at mr2 conversion kits and it doesnt look too hard, might need a bit fibreglass work tho.

Hi Marcus...I must say that i have always liked the headlights on the white elephant..I suppose you could make a removeable water tight bezel that screws into place and then removed so the bulbs can be changed..Im not too sure how accessible the bulbs are with that design on nelly..Ziga

If i was change the headlights on mine that's the only way i would have it as not to spoil the bonnet line..

When we got her the headlamps and driving lights on the Elephant were very accessible. However the problem with that was they were very accessible to water too, particularly as the runoff water from the bonnet was expertly channelled right into the back of them. So one of the many small mods we have had to perform to make the car safe and serviceable was to slightly close up the access holes to the back of the lamps to help divert any running water away, still leaving enough room to allow you in to change the lamps when necessary.

We also improved on the design of the lamp units by changing them from this:

To this:

Which we hope will allow for easier adjustment - well that's what we hope anyway!

Hi Mark - there is a vid of the engine being run in on the dyno which I will put up when I get a minute.

Latest news is she is still in Blackpool having the finishing touches put to the loom and fuel system, then hopefully we can be trimming her up very soon after that. The carpet and leather is all ready and waiting...

After trimming it up the spray job will be completed and then we are finishing her off. Should have her running just after Christmas.

The job has been slowed down a bit by the fact that we have had to have pretty much everything re-made as the car was left unprotected with the rear screen missing for so long. So everything has been re-worked in stanless, even the bits you can't see!

Hi Marcus - the lamps are Hella units which are readily available, but you might want to think about something a few cm's smaller as the two lamps together are quite a width and there isn't so much space in the front of a wedge. The fitment in the Elephant is quite tight and doesn't leave so much space for adjustment.
