Help ! Rocker Cover gaskets don't
Discussion
My gaskets are too big! I have a 280i fhc, and just finished a tappet adjustment, and went to fit my NEW gaskets from FAI, and they are too big, it is as if they have swelled up by 3% or so. Any ideas how I shrink them? Tried one in the oven on a low setting for 10 miniutes, and it came out bigger!

I don't know about the v6, but the castings for the "TVR" rocker covers on the my V8 are terrible, and I always need to trim the outer edges of the gaskets by a few mm at certain points to avoid them popping out from the joint that they are supposed to seal. As long as there is sufficient width to seal the joint you should be able to trim them - I assume they are cork or composite.

Well,
I decided to try fixing one gasket into a rocker cover with RTV silicone and LOTS of clothes pegs ( and some bolts to keep the holes aligned) The gaskets bulge out if there is even a single peg gap, so I can only do them one at a time. Will investigate tomorrow.

Are you using the cork or rubber items?

Don't forget to hold them in place with the mounting bolts/
