Wow! what a price for Insurance
Discussion
Hi
I have just got my renewal price in for all my cars!
Thats 9 TVR's, a Range Rover, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee with agreed values, plus 9 named drivers and insurance tax for £1,760.
I rang to agree the rate and during the discussion a reduction was made for being in the TVRCC and now the price is £1,575
Now that's what I call a great deal from Footman James!

Blimey, my quote from FJ seems quite high then, £620.72 for my 390 and a 1991 classic mini cooper !
Will have to shop around me thinks.............

Yes it a strange they are quoting you so much.
Some of it maybe your postcode or other things.
I was surprised how much I got off for being a TVRCC member,
I got more money back than I pay for the membership!

It works out to around 140 per vehicle..What is the average for people with the wedge as a second car?..(Still less than what i pay though).maston said:

Ian do you have the TVR as the main car and the mini as the second?..If so swap it round to see if its better..You live in a good post code..Unlike me..Will have to shop around me thinks.............

I have all 4 cars in the household insured with Lockton, the Aston Martin owners club introduced me to them and I have to say their service is excellent. From memory the costs are as follows:
'97 Aston Martin DB7 £400
'85 TVR 350i £270
'05 BMW Mini £410
'00 BMW 530i Touring £540
The BMW was a £2k ebay purchase following an unfortunate accident with a pot of paint in "her" Mini as obviously I couldn't car any diy stuff in my cars.
Still can't get my head around the lowest value car and the second slowest being the most expensive to insure.
Great to see the most fun car is the cheapest though :-)

Andy, how does the timing work on all the policies?
if you started insuring them with other companies at different times, do you lose any cover that you already have elsewhere when you start the multi policy?
i have 5 cars that have approx 2 months between their insurance start dates

Normally you get the multicar discount and you add the next cars as their renewals are due, they then have the same end date irrespective of when they are added, i.e - subsequent cars would be insured for 11 months if they were added 1 month later etc etc.if you started insuring them with other companies at different times, do you lose any cover that you already have elsewhere when you start the multi policy?

It works as per what Dave has posted!
Just add them as they become due, it may take you nearly a year that way (Depending on dates)
I added my last car 6 weeks ago, so this quote was the first I had with all of the cars on the policy, I was expecting about £2K so to end up more than £400 less is great!

Yes its £143 each vehicle, but when you concider the range of cars a 4.5 Cerbera is normally nearly double a wedge in price, The Range Rover is the same! That's why I can't believe the good value!

Hi Andy..Im not knocking it mate as it is very cheap, I was wondering what people pay if the wedge is a second car as when i was looking into purchasing a V8 a little while ago the quotes were sublime to the ridiculous!..One of them being 4K...Yes its £143 each vehicle, but when you concider the range of cars a 4.5 Cerbera is normally nearly double a wedge in price, The Range Rover is the same! ..Ok i live in a shyte post code but im nearly 50 FFS and i have min 6 years NCD...Even the insurers im with at present quoted me 900..500 more than i pay for the 280..When i asked how much more it would be if i fitted a supercharger to mine they said another 160 squid which still puts it lower than insuring a V8..So that is the route im going..Until i either move or win the lottery..(Or both)..Cheers...ZigaEdited by mrzigazaga on Friday 9th November 16:41

Living up north has its benifits guys. £102 a year with the full cover the full shaboom.
Ditto, £102.90 for my 390SE, f/comp, protected NCD, 6000 miles, garaged with Thatcham Cat. 1 fitted and one named driver. I could get it cheaper still if I changed my driving licence to have Nursy's address and kept the car there
