I just dropped mine while refitting it mad

one very smashed glass furious

Do any Cibie 7 inch Valeo H4 lamps fit? none that i can find on the interweb seem to have the level adjustment screw fitting on them which suggests that they may be specific. They seem to be sealed units so no chance of getting a new it of glass?

Thanks
Rich

Hi Mate...Im pretty sure that the adjuster is not part of the lens..At least its not on mine..You can still buy the lenses...I think you want the one without the side lights option..

I think they are the same as used in MG's and mini's..Ziga

Not sure about Wedges (not had one - yet!) but if they are standard 7" units then the adjusters are in the bowl part.

Googling for Cibie units probably adds to the price!

Some S types have fitted these

If you're after Cibie or Wipac SVC are worth a call - very helpful. The link is to the cheap set (£22 inc. Vat a pair!) they do - but you can see the other stuff there.

Hummm, my leveling adjusters are definitely attached to the headlight units. 3 of them are are bolted through the lens and then push into the headlight bowl (sort of snap to fit, however make sure you have a good hold of them before hand frown ).

I wonder if they have been changed at some point in the past or if TVR just had a change of light units. I may take the plunge and buy new bowls/lens as the bowls are rather old and not in the best shape and the lens could probably be improved

Hmmm, not standard 7" units so I'll duck out or I'll confuse things - a Wedge guru is needed.
Good luck!

I suspect that what lights end up in a car after 28 years is likely to be random chance. Also i appear to have side light bulbs fitted to mine.... clearly not required as the pods are down when they are on (actually, if i think about it they are not even wired up?!)

still annoyed that i dropped the damn thing, i had just finished putting the other back in and turned round like a clumsy git and knocked the other off the precarious resting place that i had decided to use irked

Have to confess I did a bit of looking at Wedge stuff after reading this. All the pics I could find looked like standard 7" units like this.

Maybe yours are special wink

I feel your pain - so annoying when something like happens.

yeah see mine do look just like that you have uploaded, however the adjustment of the lens angle is all controlled from bits attached to the lens. They plug into the bowl but go through the lens in three bits of metal which poke out from the lens by about 3/8 of an inch, looking about on the internet most of the lens available seem to have fittings which are flush with the outside edge and presumable get grabbed by the bowl.

actually, now i look at the image a bit more i figure that mine are different. That image looks to have a bowl with a hole in it while mine is solid metal

The lenses should pop off from the retaining ring with a light amount of pressure with a screwdriver in a prising action..There are normally three poppers that hold the lens in place...Ziga

It sounds like the same three popper system as you described Ziga, however the images I've found for 7inch headlights all look different as the poppers are located outside the circumference of the lens.

could just be me worrying about buying the wrong bit, main pain is that i need to re-submit for MOT before Thursday and i broke it after the time at which places close for the weekend

I got standard 7" units from ebay and the fit fine; you can also get complete assemblies with the bowl and adjusters, I think they're all standard for UK classics. Someone must have fitted something odd to your car, maybe pinched the whole assembly off a Golf or something similar from a breaker's yard?

Got mine from Vehicle Wiring Products, exactly as the original units. Not sealed beams though... and all the better for it as it's far easier to find an H4 dual-filament halogen lamp in a corner-shop factors, than a sealed beam unit these days.
