I might be having the replacement engine fitted near christmas and then its a matter of waiting....Waiting some more...More waiting...Waiting a bit longer...Probably more waiting..A bit more waiting..possibly waiting a little longer..Then hopefully the inheritance will be paid and then Delilah will be off to RT for some chassis refurb/modification, A re-wire..Brake and suspension upgrades..Original engine off to Mr Toovey..Then shipped up to RT for fitting along with the supercharger and ignition system..Then back in time for spring..Wether it all goes to plan remains to be seen...Ziga

How long have you got? biggrin

Find some bloody suspension bushes!

Blast and powdercoat the A-frames, half-shafts, tierods, diff cradle, stub axles and hubs...

Fit new UJs and wheel bearings...

Rebuild brake calipers AGAIN...

Drop the main silencer, cut open and pack with new wadding (old stuff long gone), re-weld...

Refit diff, brakes, A-frames, tierods, driveshafts, hub carriers, exhaust...

Make up new brake lines...

Modify spare Montego seat runners and fit to driver's seat (passenger side already done)...

Try to cure leaking thermostat housing AGAIN...

Fit AP calipers...

seeing as it's Summer (supposedly) down here in the antipodes, I'm going to DRIVE mine.....

.....but then.....

There is a slight drip from the master cyl, despite new seals.
Leaky rocker cover gaskets should get replaced (2.8).
The exhaust sometimes knocks on the chassis.

so there's ALWAYS something to do.

1 - Pass MOT

2 - Rockers off (check clearances), clean and paint before replace with new gaskets

3 - inlet off, clean, paint and replace with new gaskets

4 - general cleaning in the engine bay, possibly some painting

5 - some driving would be nice (after point 1) smile

I will be prepping for a respray and then when I find somewhere to paint my car I'll give it a new paint job. On the mechanical side, I want to send my rear socks back to GAZ for re-valving as I want a softer ride for the summer.....bring it on!

Hi

I hope to refurbish the engine compartment of the 350SE and 450SE plus replace the hoses and coolant with Evans waterless coolant on the 350SE.

I also intend to replace coolant in the "Yellow Beast" and Tuscan racer with Evans!

Then if time allows I hope to also change the coolant in the remander of the cars to Evans.

ebc pads to fit. wiring loom still to finish.

if all done by end of march then i will start on the interior...carpets, headliner, seals, door cards and seating.
miss read your post andy, i thought you were filling with Evian.

Well, put winter tyres n wheels,on the family bus. Wash it..
Wash n polish the zed..
Give the TIV another coat of polish and leave the heater on timer in the garage.... Some nights I even nip out to the garage and tuck it in.. Only if it's been good.. Which is always..

Awwwww.

The most important thing, I must add to the list, fitting of hand controls to the 280i.

So I can drive a wedge again, then I can at least get down to the ACE and also drive to the Fest in June/July!

Evans waterless coolant seems a good idea. Might look into it myself.

Centre cap...
Stu, You'll need to email me your address then, I don't have it (and you didn't put it on the parcel!).
Finally got the measurements t'other night so can work out how it might be done... but I suspect not cheap as you'd have to start with a bit of 10mm alloy plate and throw most of it away as swarf!

It's not cheap, but solves a lot of problems, like, corrosion, also pressure as there is no water to boil, which as you know results in many other problems, like burst hoses, rads, water pumps etc!

I will keep the forum advised how we get on, so people can decided if its for them with out having to take the risk!

Andy,

It does seem to have its benefits. I would be interested in the chemical composition of the coolant. Being from the chemical industry.

Sorry don't have that info to hand as it's all boxed up pending my house move this coming week!

Try Evans web site, they have it on there. They do a couple of differant formulas to suit differant engines and uses!

Stu

Are you looking for center caps to replace the plastic ones for the OZ wheels?
