Hi officiandos I have received a request from an owner in Germany for info on the source of, or donor vehicle for, the door ash trays on a 1982 TVR Tasmin Coupe - Any one help?

Hi Steve

The door ashtrays are off the rear door of a Jag XJS.

Well as near as you can get!

As they are from the Jag!

As fitted with the matching trim!

Can i follow this up with a question on the origins of the ash tray in the center console? Mine has been removed at some point and the re-trimming that was done at that time needs to be replaced as its nasty!

Cheers,
Rich

It would also be good to know where the chrome interior door handles and surrounds came from..I have them in the 280, I have looked at Ford capri..Escort..Orion...TR7-8...Jag..VW...a couple came close but the fixing holes were different...cheers...ziga

I think they are a BL part maybe a Marina or some thing along those lines.

Thanks Andy..I have actually found a pic of an S reg (1977) TR7 with what looks like the same interior chrome handles and black plastic inserts, The marina inserts looked the same but the chrome part was a solid flat piece...Cheers..Ziga

I thought the interior handles were Austin Allegro and some Marina models, but they are definitely a BL part. Exterior handles are Granada mk1/Capri, and lock mechanisms are Cortina/Granada (and other Fords too I reckon). Granada MkII central locking ones fit with a bit of fiddling.

I reckon my 82 wedge has ashtrays which look squatter (less hieght) than that, or is that just me ?

just LURVE that tartan trim on the TR7....
