Hi

As Mark has brought the subject up, yes we have to again decide nearer the Fest for the "Wedge Personality of 2013"

Last year was all done in a hurry, and this year we have a bit more time to think how we arrange the system for this award!

The system we had last year worked but in my opinon it was flawed, but was the best we could do in the time we had.

The reason for saying this is, at the fest we had 60 to 70 cars attending with there owners, but the voting for the personalty we only had 18 votes in total, and not all of those was for the winner!

Plus it was all done via the forum, and if somebody were to manipulate the forum, by constanly posting etc, they can become the center of attention etc, without really doing anything to be the personality.

I don't think anybody amongst us who would do this but it could easly happen!

So what system do we have or do we stay the way it is!

Hi Andy..Dont know what you mean..."Ziga = type....FORUM = laugh....Ziga = type....FORUM = laugh....Ziga = whistle"..hehe

Seriously though..Im not sure if there is a system that could help us decided,If there is its worth a try..A nominee should stand out from the rest, Have particular qualities that make them interesting or popular..Although not always popular as this is not a popularity contest!!..For me the person who i want to nominate has not had an easy ride and has persevered in the face of ridicule..Got up after being slapped down..Made to feel like shyte when they are trying to do good things..Put themselves on the firing line time after time..Showed true passion in their beliefs..And showed character throughout..It has been very difficult as i had a few people that i felt should be in the runnings but i have decided that this person deserves it more..And it is.....

....laugh..Only messing..But the person i will nominate has had all the above..Cheers..Ziga

Seriously Andy do you think people would be that shallow to try and sway the vote for themselves or anybody they wanted to win? It was a vote and votes counted gave the result as a worthy winner. Or am i just reading this the wrong way FFS.

How about a mixture - everyone who comes on the day to BBWF gets a voting slip. Plus an online vote too a month or two before the event. Then you can take both votes and combine them so that you get a better balance?

Just an idea - must be even better ones out there.

I think last year Adam it was kind of in a round of about way noted that there is maybe a hardcore 30 wedgers that use this forum often. So based on 60-70 wedges in attendence at the BBWF that culd make 30-40 negligable votes.

Good idea though and thats what is needed ideas chucking in the pot, but not negatives towards fellow owners and enthusiasts.

Hi

What Adam is proposing sounds like a good idea everybody has a chance to vote.

Not everbody uses this forum and the Wedgers deserve the rite to vote not just us on here!

Unless sombody else can come up with a better idea I suggest we go down this route.

What do you all think?

Andy

1 vote one person don't matter who is at BBWF or isn't. Its a who has done most and influenced the wedge fraternity isn't it? Zig won it last year and every one knew he would just for enthusiasm alone I'm sorry but it starts wavering from that then its not a democracy anymore and that means the whole structure of the award is flawed and pointless.

Lets be honest wedgers who either don't turn up for BBWF or RNR or don't come on here should they really be given a vote anyway as what would they know about people who go that extra mile?

Hi Peeps..I must apologise as i have what looks like stirred up a hornets nest..I was trying to do something positive but it seems to of created negativity..TBH i have managed to put my foot in it a few times outside of the forum whilst trying to help someone i care a lot about, Unfortunately they over react every time like i have said something drastic..Its very frustrating as they live 500 miles away now but were only a hundred yards away just before christmas..I feel like i want to curl up in a corner, I have been trying really hard over the last three years to be positive about life as i still have traits of the agoraphobia lurking in the background..Living on my own and having no-one around me dont help!..Im on the border of slipping back into being a recluse..Its not a good place for me!!..And not a very good start to the year..Maybe im a bit blue also as delilah goes in today for her transplant and i have just managed to scrape the cash together..Hopefully all will balance itself out..So sorry if i have caused any ill feelings..Ziga

Mark,
Don't worry about your posting matey!
I didn't read anything approaching a hornet's nest in your post, only a willingness to get involved with everything Wedge shaped!
Don't worry about Delilah, I'm sure she'll be fine and will return to you with some much needed added grunt and attitude wink well, she can't have any less than 106bhp wink yours is the first car I've ever seen with a decibel count higher than a bhp count eek
You've got tons of support on here, and yes, we do understand how debilitating Agoraphobia can be, pick the phone up to me anytime you're struggling, we can't afford for you to be a recluse, the forum would be a considerably quieter place without you around and who else would be able to google so many facts and figures for everyone?
Hey, one other thing, you have to work on Delilah when she comes back, get the running gear 100% up to scratch, as Andy tells you from time to time, (OK, quote often then!) it's not just about the bling in the bay, but about making sure she'll run and stop properly! As well as work on those new old seats I took down to you last year.
You've got the boot closing position to sort (I've got those bump stops for you by the way) the rear bumper to sort out and the exhaust's outlet position to fettle and shroud with a stainless plate!
I also want to see the results of the polishing of the roof struts, something I'm considering doing myself too smile
You sure you want to miss the opportunity to meet with Oliver again at the fest this year?
Just remember the old adage; you can't please all of the people all of the time wink
Damn, if I'd known before I wouldn't have Sorned my car and you could have borrowed mine while Delilah's in being worked on thumbup hmmmm, it could do with a service too!
Take care and catch up soon
Mark

Hi Mark

Your post was OK so don't knock your self over it mate.

The outcome had to happen as we had a flawed system, as it was only ltd to a few people and the "Wedge" comunnity is not just restricted to the PH forum, and they deserve to be included!

Hopefully we can get a system which gives all wedges the chance to vote for the "Wedge Personality of 2013"

Andy

Mark, dont worry about your post i thought it was a good idea and was done correctly but anybody can take things a different way to the way that was intended in this type of format. You either keep your views to your self or stick your head above the parapet. The forum dosent run if we keep our views to ourselves so i would always encourage people to engage but just think a little before they reply as there has been quite a bit of negativity on the forum during 2012 and none of us really need that.
