Info -

Mine has the plastic H4 replacements for the original Lucas headlamp assemblies. Lucas items were fitted to a wide range of cars from about 1950 onwards...

The original Lucas metal shell attaches to body of pod with 3 or 4 bolt/screws (depending upon subtype) and has two adjusters and one fixed mount. The pastic ones are all 4 bolt (at least the ones I've used !)

The headlamp itself was originally the Lucas 'sealed beam' 55/60 watt, but you can buy H4 relacement inserts. I did find some of the inserts don't fit all of the mounting options, as the shape of the replacement is slightly different, but it can be fixed with a little bit of cutting.

I've fitted the Lamp Mounting Sets, and the 7" halogen conversion WIPAC QUADOPTIC split beam lamps from this supplier http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinest...

A little bit of drilling was required to the headlamp pods, in order to line up the new mounting holes on the shells.

Paul

They will fit you just have to make the hole larger or drill some new fixing hole etc!

Come on mate you done a great refurb, a couple of holes should not cause you a problem, and you know a good MOT tester to check the height and alignment hehe

Evening pk500.
once i finish fixing up my pods; i will have two spare light units, motors, motor stands and pods (white) if they are any use? I haven't had to drill new holes either in my 280.
