NO SEAC shot either only the odd comment in Regional roundup (Surrey)
Only flicked through this morning but looks rather empty.
What's appinin??
Heard it wasn't at the Clarkson DVD shoot. Posted my disgust on the car club forum.
But its not all bad as the story is it will be included in the "Wedge special feature" around December/January. They are also looking foe Wedges to feature in this....sounds ok but will have to wait and see.
Well I reckon its pants!.
The biggest meeting of Wedge cars probably of all time and not a titter 'cos of some politics poo.
I had a e-mail off Marshall Moore the president of the TVRCC North America and he is running an edited version of my BBWF 2004 article which appears on the 'owners' section of the TVRWedgepages site. It will appear in their 'TVR Times' TVRCC North America club magazine to be distributed across North America!.
As a sign of enthusiasm for the marque he is going to wear his BBWF2004 t-shirt to his annual 'Woodwork' TVR meeting.
Marshall Moore, on behalf of the Wedge owners of this country I salute you.

My guess is that since BBWF was not an officially sanctioned TVRCC event, that is why it was being snubbed. Doesn't make it right certainly, because it was obviously a well-planned, well attended event that set the standard for future wedge gatherings.
Mike, thanks for your mention. Yes, even though my wedge found a new home last year, I'm still quite partial to them and will wear the BBWF colors proudly
next month.

So who was the ignorant prat in the corner of the wedge section who wouldn't even budge his Chim when we'd got full to overflowing then? A TVRCC regional rep I was told. I thought that was the price we paid for the BBWF recieving the nod from the TVRCC.

Steve.
Are you surprised, it was the dreaded one model meet.
Whadyamean??
There was a 200 Tasmin, 280, 350, 390, 400, 420, 450 and soo many different SEACS

Plus a Griff, a Chim and a Nissan-Chim
Well I'm very disappointed in the TVRCC, it comes across as very childish IMHO.
I hope people don't treat the Cardiff P & P in the same vein, anyone know how many 390's are going to the birthday bash??

I thought that it was in the end. Maybe if we had the compulsory purchase of over-priced commemorative mugs and other crap then we would feature... there again it's probably best not to be associated with them too much. It took three years before they would accept my resignation as an RO.
taimar78 said:Gents, There was more than one reason why the BBWF wasn't featured this month. Can you see that someone else may well have been a bit miffed to be dropped in favour of a non-Club event? And to be fair, there was another important bit of news that had to be covered in this month's mag so that was a couple of pages gone.

The BBWF was an important occasion and so was the S-meet at Silverstone TVR. Both will be covered in articles on the specific models, but there is a limited amount of ways you can cover the fact that a lot of TVRs of one particular type got together for a good time. My feeling is that this is the sort of thing that is good to read about over the winter. If I'm wrong then phone me for a discussion.
We've got an Editorial Team meeting this week where things like this will be discussed and I would assume that there will be changes. If you have a point of view, then send me an email at editor@tvrcc.com and it will be taken into account.
The only other thing I will ask is that you don't attribute motives to me. It really does irritate. I am not anti-wedge. How can anyone keen on performance cars not like a SEAC? I am also not against covering events that are not organised and sanctioned by the Club. I will give preference to Club matters, but then it is a Club-funded publication.
In a Club the size of ours there will be lots of people with particular preferences. I can satisfy them but it will take time. For the first few months of the editor's role it was all new to me and I found it quite difficult. I've just seen Eau Rouge from 15 yards and, daunting though it is, I bet many of the drivers would, at some time in their first few months of editorship, lift off a bit more. The Team's now settled in and I expect the magazine to improve substantially over the next few months.
If you want to have a go at the quality or contents of Sprint, fair enough. It goes with the post and I expected it when I started. I'd prefer ideas rather than criticism, but then, doesn't everybody? But, if you want to have a go at me personally then please don't do it on a public forum. Phone and we can talk.
Most importantly, if you want something specific covered, write the article yourself and send it in. It can be in note form if you wish, I'll put it together for you, but do it. Speaking from experience, it is great seeing your own work in print.
Regards
Derek thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
I don't think that anyone (on this thread at least) is having a personal attack on you unless you view criticism of the content of the mag this way, but as you say this comes with the job.
I appreciate you have many items to cram into your pages, the only other point I would make is that the impact of a successful event is somewhat diminshed if you read about it 6 or more months after it has taken place.
Glad to hear that all events are considered however.

Derek,
My humble account of the BBWF is under the 'Owners' tab on the www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk site.
Please feel free to use anything that you see fit for publication, I have high-res pics of everything you see. You simply have to copy and paste whatever you want to use text wise and let me know how you want the high res stuff.
I Have worked in magazine and newspaper production environments nearly all my working life and realise that it does take planning and forethought in getting articles together and preparing them for printing. Nobody is saying that you should rush out and bang a couple of full colour centre spreads together at a moments notice, but I think that people would have liked a little mention of the BBWF somewhere. As you can see the Wedge owners on this forum are very passionate!.
But, uploading a short article onto a web site only takes minutes. It would have been nice to see something on the TVRCC site as per the Griff growl shortly after the event. Nothing at all only makes people think that the club is being arsey.
Let me know what else you need for the BBWF article and it shall be done.
