Seatbelt mount!
Discussion
Well I knew it was to good to be true. Only one small hole on the outrigger body mount.
It appears that the rot is worse inside the car than out? The lower fixing hole for the seatbelt mount has completely gone. Probably about 20-30mm of plate gone.
Does the whole assembly come out for repairs or is there another way?
Thanks Karl.

The inner seatbelt mount came as a bit of a surprise though. Wish I hadn't looked now as it means I have to check the drivers side now.

Scared to look.... Chassis or seat belt mounts, not expecting either to be good
My chassis is great apart from one small area on the rear near side body/seatbelt mount.

if its the out mount you're talking about, its a plate at the bottom with a round tube that comes up and the roof T bar attaches too. You should be able the remove the rear hood assembly/T bar, then remove some of the rear interior trim pieces, unbolt the bottom plate and lift out the offending piece.
the top of the structure (tube) will probably be ok, its the plate at the bottom that rusts away!(water trap) i made a new plate on mine with a new piece of tube with a bigger bore about 5 inches, cut back the bottom of the old tube till it was good metal and sleeved it on to the new plate.
not a bad job, just make sure you don't alter the height or you'll have a wonky roof!!!

You've got it spot on mate. It's the plate at the bottom of the verticle tube. You've answered my question now I know it can be removed it should be no problem.the top of the structure (tube) will probably be ok, its the plate at the bottom that rusts away!(water trap) i made a new plate on mine with a new piece of tube with a bigger bore about 5 inches, cut back the bottom of the old tube till it was good metal and sleeved it on to the new plate.

Had a quick look at it this afternoon after spending the day cleaning susspension parts for painting. Initially thought the steel verticles were not removable so was a bit worried about the repair.
Where did you get new rubber washers from when you did yours? Or did you make your own?
Cheers Karl.
rubber washers...........where?????
i know that where the Tbar connects there are quite a few plastic white washers that pack it out, you want to make sure you mote where they go and how many on each side.
the upright tube also has a small brace that bolts on to the wheel arch that should be fairly obvious when you remove it, also best to remove seats for easier access. Passenger side is easier than drivers due to fuel filler hose being in the way.
i used some 5mm plate for bottom section, then temporarily bolted plate and tube in place before tack welding where it needs to be so tube is in correct location before removing and fully welding.

Well that was a bit of a swine , subframe or whatever it's called is all out now. Bottom holes of each verticle both gone. Time to get the mig welder out if I can find somewhere local to get a bit of steel plate from.
Don't you just live starting another job before you've finished the last!
Jobs now in progress
Repairs to above
Repairs to body mount passenger side, the reason I found the above
Front suspension rebuild. All stripped and painted can put it back together as I'm waiting for the last couple if it's bl##dy snow. Posty couldn't get up our rd.

Sounds like you're doing well.
I'd paint a bit of this on whilst you wait http://www.rust.co.uk/products/category/28117/epox...

That epoxy paint looks the business. Wish I'd seen that last week. Oh well maybe next time round, I'm not cleaning it all off again.
And looking at my previous post don't you just love (not live) the iPad auto spell check function NOT.
