One up..One Down...(Headlights)
Discussion
Hi Peeps...Popped the headlights up so i could give them a grease up but only one popped up...So i manually raised it up then took out the lenses & Bowls..Checked the wires and connections and found a wire that had come loose so i sorted that but now i have no O/S sidelight and no N/S headlight popping up..Then i went to adjust the headlight stops but the one on the N/S is missing the hose and i couldnt remove the screw to replace it..One consolation is that the O/S was and i managed to lift it up level with the bodywork...It would ne really good to have the headlights to switch re-wired so there are no issues..Also i can still smell petrol after replacing the fuel hose, I just cant see where it is coming from?..I will have a good look when dan has it on the ramp tuesday..Cheers...Ziga
Cheers mate..I do plan to snip a small amount of the old wire off where it meets the connector and replace the "Mate N Lok" connectors with new ones..I might even give the sides of the pods a spray while they are out as they look a bit rough..Fingers crossed for some sunny weather next week..Cheers..Ziga

Blimey Ziga! You're not having much luck with the smell of fuel in, on and around Delilah!
Is she trying to tell you something?
There must be a crack / fracture in the metal pipes somewhere, you've changed every bloomin hose and the larger ones more than once. Just a thought for you, are the tanks actually alright? Maybe there's a fracture of a seam somewhere on one of them, letting the fumes drift upwards.
As petrol has a SG of between 0.71 kg/l & 0.77 kg/l i.e. < 1.0 kg/l, the fumes will always rise; given the position of the tanks and where you've said you're experiencing the smells from, it may be something to at the very least consider given how much time and effort you've spent on trying to sort this out

Cheers for now
Mark
P.S. I've got the boot's bump stops out of the garage this morning, so I'll post them off to you early next week
Hi Mark...Im now thinking along those lines...The N/S tank was plasticised and the O/S was almost new about 2 years ago although saying that when i changed the tank breather hose the solder on the seam had come away...I have seal it with pro-seal epoxy putty but there could be something similar going on with the main tank inlet collar or the seams on the edges of the tank...I hope not as they are not easy to get out..Especially the O/S tank..I will investigate when delilah is up on the ramp tuesday...look forward to the bumper stops as i will need them later on when i fit the NASCAR boot spoiler...

Hi Wilf..I had a spray tin of paint made up at a motor factors from the body code colour of my car...I will be taking the pods out to get to all the wiring so i was going to mask the tops of the pods and just spray the sides..The body colour code should be on the TVR data plate on the wheel arch..Hope this helps...Ziga
Hi, I expect you've done this, but after a long run, open the filler, if it hisses, the breather pipe is blocked . The exhaust is close to the tank and heats it up. The breather if blocked will make the petrol seep out in all sorts of places under pressure. Also check the breather is not broken or been shortened, it should run up from the filler at the top side of back of the boot bulk head across the width of the car then double back on it self and exit the car in the petrol cap side under boot floor. So If its been shortened or blocked it will wifff of petrol all the time regardless of how many parts you change. Hope this may help

Hi Mate..There is no pressure when i remove the filler cap, I have two breathers on the filler neck..Theres one from the tank to the filler neck and one from the filler neck to the N/S rear of the car..It does extend the width of the boot but doesnt double back on itself...It exits just behind the N/S rear wheel..A while back i went to change the filler neck to tank breather hose but the fitting on the tank came out where the solder had failed...I sealed it with some pro-seal epoxy putty but now wonder if this is the case with the main filler collar on the tank..I will have a good look tomorrow when it is up on a ramp although its not that easy to see all around the edge..In a way it would be better if it was actually dripping as at least then i would know exactly where its coming from...Cheers...ZigaGassing Station | Wedges | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
