CHEAP 350I ON GUMTREE
Discussion
Dont look too bad but thats easy to say without taking a good look at it..I think the seller is being a bit ambitious when saying.." I know done up nicely they can make 6k"..Mmmm...Ive seen some really good examples on here sell for less and they have had a well documented history..Also there is no mention of chassis condition..

Has anyone messaged him on how to open the boot? lol
Awwwww, poor fella

Mind you, if I hadn't taken 10 minutes to find out, I'd never have been able to open the boot when I first bought mine either.
Actually, here's a thought; lets not tell him how to open the boot and see what wonders await inside; mine had 4" of water in it, corroding everything in sight
after 3 months, it finally dried out and all is well now after a bit of judicious re-wiring, jenoliting and hammerite application.Even though I was hoping for a big bag of money
C'est La VieThats handy to know but then I don't get the fun of driving it home. Why are you wedgies trying to put me off driving one so far, have you no sense of adventure
Plan was to sell my Jeep and get something more interesting, this cuts out the middleman and gets me a day out to boot.
Speaking of which, how do you open the boot?

Check that Chassis, and then check it again, and then have a look at the chassis.
Then, and only then, drive it.
If the first three points have any problems set yourself a low bid factoring in 1k of refurb (roughly) and then buy it!
I was going to have a look tomorrow as Im south of Norwich this week, and I spoke to the guy yesterday, so let me know how you get on.

Well it didn't happen. I'm back home now, TVRless
Some background first.
I got him to email me the V5 reference last night to check the MOT-this showed the car as having no MOT. Somewhat perturbed I spoke to him and he gave me the reference number from the MOT which checked out and showed it had an MOT, however although the reg was the same on both the chassis number was slightly different-two digits reversed.
I put this down to a DVLA/MOT tester cockup and thought it was fairly simple to sort, however the boy phoned me shortly after 9 this morning as I was en route-he had phoned the DVLA and it turns out the car had been exported to France at some point and then brought back into this country in 2009. At some point during this the chassis number has been entered wrongly. He was told by the DVLA that the car would need to be inspected and reregistered.
I then phoned the DVLA myself and was told I'd need to get evidence from the manufacturer(?) or the TVR club that it was genuine and then simply fill in the change of vehicle details on the V5.
Lomg and short of it is the trader (who I can't fault, he has been open with me) wasn't prepared to let the car go with this hanging over it. I was tempted to continue on and sort it myself but it was not to be. I'm now back in Edinburgh, tired and TVRless.
He'll get back to me once he's been to the DVLA office and we'll take it from there.
