I'm enjoying this whole TVR thing to much. So much in fact that I am considering taking on a complete basket case of a restoration project.

Is it advisable to buy a sub £1k Wedge?

If this sounds a recipe for disaster please talk me out of it biggrin

The only thing that's stopping me at the minute is that I can't get two wedges in the garage, so I would have to find a temporary home for the cheese coloured one. And there's no way its living outside. Carpets get soaked just washing it smile

Well i know i would want another if i had somewhere for it..I have a DHC and would love an FHC as well..But..

1. Delilah is not finished yet..
2. Do i need another money pit...
3. Do i park another wedge outside on the road to stress over...
4. Am i bonkers...(That goes without saying)...

But then there's...

1. A second car would bring my insurance down..
2. Choice is good...
3. My neighbours would love me twice as much...
4. Delilah gets a bit lonely out there on her own..
5. Yes im completely mental...

Well 5 against 4..I'd say yes...But dont listen to me....hehe

Hi Karl

Is the car, the white 350i on e-bay (Barn find)

Yes go for it, yet another wedge saved.

It will at least mean I will not have to get another one if somebody else fails to buy it!

The white car looks recoverable, a long job but can be done!

One of only 35 S1 made so needs to be saved!

Buy it and bring it to the fest as a Barn find so we can then see it over the next year or so on PH being rebuilt as Martin (The Hatter) did with his SEAC!

It needs to be done especially as it's the 30th Birthday of the 350i.

Come on Karl, you known you want to evil

It took me all of 3 weeks after buying mine before I wanted to do something similar, but I face the same problem you do, not enough space in my garage for 2 at the same time cry

Then there's the other side of the coin, it gives you something to do of an evening and weekend wink and saves another wedge clap so long as you can find one.

Karl, if you're able to get this one, it'll be a really worthwhile project, considering its been in a barn for the last 10 years, it's in a whole lot better condition than mine was when I bought it last year.

Go for it heheevil

You got it spot on mate it's the white one in bits. The price is right and my mate is well up for the project and even the trip,to fetch it.

Cannock to Petershead 900 mile round trip. Nothing definite yet but if the guy gets back to me we will probably have it and start the trip north!

I love driving and really love getting up north past the boarder. But 900 miles with a trailer ain't going to be cheap. But at least it's on LPG.

Not mentioned this to the Wife yet biggrin

I can just imagine her walking in the garage and then coming back and saying " why did you take you car apart and spray it white" she going to go Ape S##t biggrin

you don't need a garage!! done all mine on the drive in the wind and rain, even remember clearing snow off it to work!!

my only advise would be to remove the body, mine had a very good chassis but by the time i had spent working around the awkward bits it would have been easier and quicker to do with out the body in the way.

So far nobody bid on it so hopefully it will go for less than £1K, don't pay anymore than that! As it will take at least £1 to 2K to make a reasonable car, or even more if you want a show car etc!

I agree you can do it with out a garage, its space is what you need! I also agree a body of job in the long run saves time and can save money!

I wished I had even more room than I have, so I can do even more wedges, to save them for the future!

That bit's worrying. Even a jet wash wouldn't do that to mine.

It's only the drivers side foot well. Not that bad,I know what's causing it bad grommets on bulkhead. But they don't appear to be what I would call totally weatherproof!

Oh well looks like it wasn't to be. The Guy was willing to end for offers over 600 quid. So when I factored in the collection cost I was hoping to get it home for around £800.

4 bids just come from nowhere taking it over 600 so unfortunately it looks like it wont be coming to Cannock. I'm sure it's worth more but it's not like I can drive to Aberdeen just for a look.

I hope it gets a good home.

Its only at £651 I would expect it to end around a £1k with your £200 to £250 collection cost it would still be a good price. Any car costing lower than that will be hard to find and certainly will cost a lot more to refurb!
If you can I would stretch things just that little bit because you will find it hard and harder to find cars at this price now!
I have been watching the prices and they are stabilised at £1k to £1250 for a full resto! upwards. They are slightly more expensive compared with this time last year, plus rarer to find! (You watch there will now be a couple come up for sale)
So hopefully they will slowly increase in value, yes they will never get to the price they should (In ten to twenty years maybe) but we can hope!

+1...I paid £1450 for delilah as a non-runner which might of been a little bit over but i dont regret a single day...Also where else would you get the chance to own a slice of V8 british history so cheap!..When you look at classic car restoration one of the biggest expenses is the re-fabrication of the body..Even if the outriggers are shot its not the end of the world..If you are able to do most of the work yourself you will save loads of money..And you know you will enjoy doing it up... wink...smash....driving
