Slight play in rear wheel

I have noticed some play in the rear offside wheel when jacked up. Mainly side to side rather than top to bottom. Thinking it might be a bearing but no noise and would have expected play in all directions. Any ideas what it could be and what to check etc.

If the bearings are good then check the outer driveshaft u/j as this can give the same symptoms, with the car up in the air and the weight off the wheels check all the bushes with a good size pry bar you will spot the culprit!

Don't forget to check the big nut on the end of the drive shaft is tight

I have a similar problem, I have play in the vertical plane but not Horizontal, turns out the bearing housing is oval allowing the bearing to move.

The replacement housing I bought was just as bad as the original, so after 2 wheel bearings and two housings I gave up and left it.
