Hi all!
Just a quick question to gauge people's thoughts:

Is the TVRCC a club worth joining?

To be honest, being on here seems to give me the bulk of answers to any technical questions as well as being a good place to chat and "shoot the breeze"
Being based in Nottingham means that a lot of the get together are either up North or down in the big smoke, however I'm pretty well sorted for the Fest smile

The price is pretty reasonable and copies of the sprint seem pretty good, oh and I like the purple colour of the club regalia, but would appreciate other people's opinions before I make my own mind up.

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, the magazine "Sprint" is excellent, as is the leather key fob you'll receive as a new joiner, however I'm afraid the forum is little used, and a bit disappointing.... The pistonheads one is certainly used more smile you'll also enjoy insurance discounts, depends what you want from it really, give it a whirl see what you think smile Jay

You're in the East Midlands region and they meet in Nottingham so they're much nearer than you think.

http://www.tvr-car-club.co.uk/regions/uk-centralen...

Very active region with enthusiastic RO's and indeed the former RO of the region is now the club chairman.

Pop over to their next meeting and introduce yourself to them I'm sure they'll be more than happy to see you.

Thanks for that Jay,
It's exactly the sort of feedback I was after.
Insurance (as I'm old and I live in a nice area with a cheap postcode) isn't too bad at all, at only £100 touch a year smile
Given that membership is pretty cheap, I'm of the opinion that its worth a go and it'll be good to see if I can glean any other info on my car, etc.

Thanks again thumbup

Hi Mark
This is my first year of TVRCC membership and I think I’ll stay a member.
I looked at it like this I used to buy a car mag every month so stopped doing that and I now read a TVR based mag for roughly the same price per year.
Plus there’s the monthly club meet and a few run outs and this year doing the Spa classic which is booked through the TVRCC and I wouldn’t have known about if I hadn’t been a member.

The only down side that I see is Wedge’s are in the minority.
Limited knowlegde on the model (you can get that on here)

But dare to be different

Tim

A quote from this months Sprint
Area meet

Tim came in his wedge with the top off, Father Christmas hat and in a T-shirt he was full of Christmas spirit but seemed to forget it was winter, Wedge owners are tough though and rarely have the roofs on their cars.smile

I definitely think there's more pro's than con's

Many thanks for that smile

Hi Mark

It realy down to what you want and can get out of being a member of the club!

The club does offer various things, like regular meets of like minded people, Ok not only wedge owners but TVR fans!

Trips out with the other TVR owners to any number of places, shows etc.

The Club regalia,

Discounts from people like insurance companys, parts suppliers, entries to certain shows etc.

Then there's the club mag "Sprint".
Again it not just about wedges but all TVR's. The amount of articles about wedges has over the last couple of years improved, but they editoral staff can only print what articles they get, so unless people submit articles about wedges then wedge owners can't complain if there no wedge info!

In my case the discount I get off my insurance pays for my yearly subscription.
I enjoy the monthly meetings when I can get to them and the trips we have made to France etc!
I have made a lot of great genuine friends from the club.

So as I said you get out of the club what you want!

I for one hope you do join the club.

Andy

Cheers Tim,
I spend the best part of £20 a month on magazines, (all car ones, honestly wink ) so I had the same thought as you with regard to the magazine issues, etc.
I'm loving the fact that you turned up in Father Christmas spirit and that we're recognised as being tough!
Your car is in tip top condition, I remember being parked up next to you at the BNG wishing my interior was as good as yours, oh well, there's always this year to work on it!

I like to be different, especially as I have to drive my Mundaneo for work every day frown

Cheers Tim and see you at Chatsworth!

Cheers for that Andy!
Very much appreciated
I definitely think I'll join, even if its only for a year, hell, it's less than a pound a week, something like about £0.14p per day, hardly going to break the bank smile
I used to belong to the Jag owners club where as I had an XJS, I was looked down on and also people used to look strangely at me if I turned up in the wrong colour shoes or without a sports jacket on or a cravat!
So far at the couple of events I've been to; the BBWF, the BNG and the classic car show at the NEC, everyone has been so friendly and very very kind with their words of encouragement, etc. plus I think that this forum has helped me to gauge the general feeling of what the club will be like.
So I'll definitely be giving them a call tomorrow and sending off my money, as I can't think of any reasons why not to smile
Thanks again Andy

Plus, I think it'd be great to be able to help (even if its just in some small way) raise the profile of the wedges in the club and I'd happily write some articles for the sprint magazine!

Thank you Davesmile

Mark, we'd love to see you. We are an active region with a diverse membership covering a massive area. We try and arrange our own events and join our neighbours when we can.

Last year saw various types of events ranging from 'show and shine', weekends away, meals out, race meetings, several 'closed' air shows (not open to public or non TVRCC owners). This year's plans are already extensive with a few more to be confirmed.

Contact myself, Paul1962 or any East Mids member for a chat if you wish. Hope to see you soon.

Cheers for that Dave,
It seems as if I can't find any barrier at all to joining, so it's a done deal now.

Especially as I've just bought a FHC wedge, chassis number 2 biggrin

I'll be contacting them tomorrow and sorting out subs etc.

Many, many thanks for your message.

Excellent!

We don't have a great many wedges in our Region but there are some smile

Hope to see you soon, about 15 of us (not me though) were out at Soulville last night. The next event is:

Sunday 10th March 2013
TVRCC East Mids Monthly Meeting
(The Unicorn’s Head, Main Street, Langar, Notts, NG13 9HE.)
From midday.

East Mids Contact : Paul A (paul1962); Dave M (petclub)

Followed by the AGM at Gaydon 23 March and we are supporting the Neil Garner day on 30th March with a joint convoy from East Mids via Coventry to join West Mids.

If you have any delays joining the TVRCC forum, PM me and I'll send you an events list. We're also very happy to hear new ideas.

IMO both PH and TVRCC are excellent, they offer somewhat different things though smile

Yeh go Mark, join up. I've been in the club since
1998 and even though I don't get along to many club events the ones I have been to have been excellent. I always, try to get along to the monthly meets even if its not in the wedge but most of the members I find are a decent down to earth non judgemental lot. Sprint is a well presented issue but can get a little repetitive so don't give up all of your other mags yet. Never know if you are enthusiastic enough you may get to wear an R O s stripes, john.

+1 positive.

The TVRCC is tremendous as a one-make club representing the marque and its enthusiasts.

What you might not see is the liaison with DVLA and other official bodies to ensure that some older cars can be got back on the road with the correct documentation.

Hi Mark

I joined the club when I got my first 350i some 8 1/2 years ago now
and have enjoyed it so much that I am now the TVRCC RO for West Yorkshire region

I have also in these years met some of the nicest people ever
and many are now close friends for life

The Wedgers as you know are "a breed apart" (some might say "above")
but either way joining the Club has many extra benefits, even for Wedgers
and you just keep adding great people as new friends.

Some Wedgers say the Club doesn't support the Wedges and we don't get Sprint coverage
but everything I have written for them has been published, and it is also
a running joke in our Region that I get a pic of my car somewhere in the mag virtually every month

Cheers
Trickie

Your post reminded and spurred me on to join. Had my pack through today and have just registered online. So all being well Staffs/Shropshire region should have a cheese coloured wedge at their next monthly meeting. Can't wait.

Have you joined?
