Well after over 2 months of tinkering, took the head gaskets off and replaced them, bolted all back together again, and it started on 2nd turn of the key to a loud booming.

Idle at about 1000 let it warm up,no leaks, only slight oil from back where I'd lubed the holes whilst head off.

Slowly rev her up and boy did it sound good. Michelle had just pulled up and said are there supposed to be flames - on the over run
Moved it in the drive way under own power and did not stall.

All I need to do is align the alternator and powersteering brackets and then take it for a spin Change the oil again and add correct antifreeze ratio and I suppose put the bonnet back on just in case it rains

Also got some style type bars being fabricated as we speak so should now look like a proper hairdressers car !!

It was certainly a challange as the last engine I took out was a Ford Capri 2.0 with carbs about 20 years ago !

So not something you should consider doing lightly, especially on your ownsome.

There also does not seem to enough info around as to the basic setting up of these engines without looking in several manuals at once.

May have to try a quick guide for the web pages with simple set up procedure so fellow wedgers can 'ave it easy !
