Hi

How much work do you want!

I have three 350i's avaliable

I have a car which is complete but needs a full rebuild.

I also have a car which is completly stripped down and needs restoring etc!

I also have a car which we are doing some work on! All the new parts are there for fitting as you continue rebuilding it.

So I have a bit off choice for you!

Just round the corner from my house there is a metallic blue 350i parked in someone's driveway. It looks like a series two but has SE wheels on. Unless it is an SE because there are no badges on it. It has been standing there for months. I remember he had it up for sale in the summer last year on ebay and it never sold. Maybe someone on here might remember it. I can't remember how much it was but I think it was around 2000 or just under. Anyway, one day, couple of months ago, I stopped and knocked on his door and there was no reply and so I wrote a short note and put it through his letter box asking to buy it. He never contacted me, yet the car is still there. While I was there I looked over the car. The body is pretty neat. Looks like its had a fairly recent re spray, but a decent job. Interior and hood shabby and seats from a different car. I don't know what else I can do other than knock on his door again, unless of course he has changed his mind about selling. I just thought I'd mention that as it looks like a good project for someone, but too much work for me, even if I do find the guy.

Just had a chat with the guy. He said it runs but has no belt on the water pump. But it has powered steering. Very tempted and I can just about get two in the garage. Had a measure last night.

Hi Karl

It looks OK!

The carpets look shot and the glove box lid is missing, both not the end of the world.

The bonnett insulation has gone but again not a problem!

As usual it the chasssis which will need to be looked at

So if you can save it please do!

Bloody typical. Why do these things come up just when you have't got the ready cash available rolleyes ? Been thinking about a V8 to replace my 280 but need to sell that first to re-invest in the new one .It's not that i don't enjoy the 280 but I've never had a V8 and feel that's one itch I need to scratch. PAS would be good too as SWMBO likes the wedge but doesn't like driving it cos of the heavy steering (she is a girl so excused). Shouldnt think it would need much to get an mot on it and then a running restoration? Should have got my a**e in gear over the winter and got the 280 fettled and sold.....curse

Looks like its getting saved Andy

Just come to a deal with the owner and going up first thing to pay for it. He hadn't got the card machine so couldn't take a deposit this evening. But I'd rather look at it first.

So all being well this time tomorrow I will be a two Wedge man.

It's still for sale Andy. Sadly it wasn't for me, the reason why is on the other post. It's still a good buy for someone I think but not me. If anyone wants any info email me your details and I'll give you a bell.

Hi Karl

I read your other post and can understand what you say and agree walk away if you don't like what you see!

It sounds like the bloke is a bit of a T_ _ T at least!

Did you take any pics, so we can all see the car in more details.

But from your description of the car and the now improved bodywork its a bit expensive.

Yes it can all be repaired,

I am certain worse cars have been rebuilt but you did the correct thing and walked away.

There will be a better car out there for you to increase your family!

Sory never even thought to take anymore pics. The guy selling it seemed ok to be honest, I think he was just rushing about to try and have it ready for viewing and made a mistake. (apart from running it with no water pump)

He showed me some pics of it when he took it in part ex back in 2011 and apart from the roof it looked really clean.

It just added to the uncertainty. There I was thinking why would you not have re MOTed a car like that and why has it got a belt missing?

I hope someone saves it. Im happy to have a go at anything. But I just don't want to get into reprinting if possible. I went in for a quote yesterday for my boot lid front bumper and fron skirt/valence and got the impression it was going to be silly money.

I hope someone saves it. I liked the colour, not sure about the new brown roof though?

Karl.

HI all
well it looks like its gone- listing has ended. was interested myself and had talked the wife into letting me buy it before selling my 280 only to find its already gone- although from Yatesy's description i'm not overly sad i missed it as it sounds like it'll need a few chassis repairs and a fair bit of work before it gets anywhere near an mot. also Yorkshire's a bloody long round trip for me! Still a good project for someone hope it gets saved and not broken.
