Oil pump relief valve
Discussion
Does anyone know if you change the valve and spring without taking the housing off do you need to re-prime the oil pump ?
As put the old one on engine and not the new on bougt specially for the job. Pressure ok but though I might as well use the new spring and plunger.
All I know is it's very hot with limited space to get your hands on the nut to undo it !

I'm sure someone will tell me that I am wrong but when I removed the spring and plunger (to check condition) and then replaced them oil pressure came up straight away with no priming. Bear in mind that the total time from removing said items to firing engine was probably no more than 20 minutes - might have been a different story had I left it longer? Hope that helps.
