Does anyone know if a windscreen is available for a series two wedge and if so how much it would cost to replace? Only, I am considering buying a wedge that will need one very shortly.

We keep Pilkington Tasmin screens on the shelf and can also offer a fitting service. Many Ph'ers have been very happy with the service that we have provided.

Think fitting can be a bit of a pig. Got to have my screen replaced ( I've got screen covered on insurance) the insurance company use National Windscreens. Phoned them up thinking they'd roll up to the house and replace it in about an hour - oh no. The guy at National windscreens said they'd need half a day and can only be done at one of their depots not mobile as they are " a hand built classic" and the screens don't always fit to well without some fettling. Need to take a day off work now as they're only open for 3 hours on a Saturday - not enough time - so it's got to be done during the week .

I did hear that auto-glass had some pugged away and they were pilkington...The FHC will need one also so a good supplier and fitter needs to be sourced..I think we still need an updated parts list for the wedge's....Ziga

I took one out, and I wasn't careful doing it, but if I was, I think I would have still made a mess of the paintwork as its bonded in real good. My tip is, take some dated photos of the car screen souround before fitting, then pay the right money and give It to the professionals with insurance, cause its not a job for the untrained and untooled.

Zig,

The reason is the screen wasn't bonded correctly and water is seeping between the laminate layers. The screen on the wedge needs to have the bonding agent overlap the edge of the screen when fitted.

I see...There is some little gaps in the silicone around it so that would explain it..Cheers..Ziga

Dont bother with the nationals, waste of time for anything that wasnt made in millions, had a nightmare with a Griff screen at auotwkers (They wanted me to leave it with them for a week, yea like you would !!) and the same with a 400, until I found Phil. He came to WF some years ago and fitted a number. Great Job, very carefull no damage no drama save a load of hassle and worry GET HOLD OF PHIL

Pilkington also produce any tint/top tint combo as well as wedge screen with built-in heating element.

I can also highly recommend Paul (Glassman) on PH.

He lives in Barnet but covers a fairly wide area or can recommend another indi outside his area to do a comparable job.

He has fitted a new screen on my SEAC.

Thanks for the info gents. I have now noted Paul's details and I will call him as soon as I am ready to fit the screen. There are a number of things I need to do, both mechanical and cosmetic before the screen is ready to go in. I will however call him in due course to make arrangements.
