Well took the plunge and bought a 450SE.

Lots of work to do on the car to get it all back up together again, a couple of questions for you guys:

1. Rear plastic window needs replacing, totally opaque tried the usual cures but the window has had it.

Is there anyplace in South Wales, Bristol area that can sew in a new one?. Also can they do it without removing the hood from the car??.

Rough idea on price??

2. Doors need adjusting as these have started to rub the door jam a little. Anybody had a go at adjusting these??.

3. Oh and forgot, got no instrument lights or rear side lights either.

On another matter, had a blast up the road in the car earlier and had what could be described as a 'moment' whilst going around a round about.

It is fair to say that the 450 has a little more poke than the 350i Think i will take it easy for a while.

well done Mike, well chuffed for you.. couldn't have you wedgeless for too long eh..

Re the window, not sure on cost but shouldn't be too silly - rear hood section would probably have to come out but that is not a big job, there are bolts that run across the rear which are undone through the cockpit and boot.. just need 1 to hold and one to undo. plus the bolts holding the seat belts..

Obviously check fuses and also there is a knob under the dash by the ignition where instrument lights can be dimmed, on mine this has the effect of switching them off - not sure if this was the same on the 350i so excuse me if I'm teaching you to suck eggs.. but it is a common thing for people to twist it whilst playing and end up switching the ignition lights off.. my godson did this with my valet alarm without me realising

Peninsula adjusted my doors following replacement of the nylon washers.. that in itself is a git of a job.. adjustment is in the bible if memory serves..

Careful with it.. when they bite... they bite hard

I met Glen last year (brought his bent alloy) and I seem to remember he was only full of praise for that car.. believe he was then looking for a Lotus..

Enjoy - as I am sure you will piccies??

Great to hear you are back in the fold again. Look forward to seeing it sometime.

I've used Brasso or jewellers rouge on plastic screens and they can be brought back to life. However, if they are too far gone, it's a pointless waste of time as they get brittle and crack.

Wahay!

Well done Mike - hope to hear more about it in due course.

You'll have to hone up the driving skills a bit! Let me know when you can go round a 25 metre roundabout at 40 mph!

Tried BAS in Cwmbran and its a no go. They reckon that they would not touch it!.

Any other suggestions as far as the rear screen goes. Somebody must be able to do it.

Mike, have a look in the yellow pages, there would appear to be a few in your area. I was trying to find the one in Cardiff that did my Vixen but no joy. Had a good job done there.

had a thoughtCheck out your insurance policy for window replacement! No loss of bonus pay the first £50 etc. I'll leave the rest to your imagination (and a stanley knife) seriously though its worth a look at.

Depending on how picky the insurance company is, you may fall foul of the 'betterment ' clause.
