If its the same as a 350i at the rear I would recommend dropping the whole diff assembly out. This is a pain but I thought my rear calipers were ok until I got them on the floor and found out one piston on each side had totally seized.

You don't have to remove springs etc for this so it is quite safe as long as the car is secure and you have a decent jack to drop the diff on.

I'm sure it can be done without all removing the lot. But if found it a real pain just removing one Caliper so gave up and dropped the lot out.

Happy to tell you where I went wrong and got it right if you want to email me your number. Shame your not a bit closer you could have abused my sicssor lift before it goes on fleabay.

Karl.

Thanks Karl will do ....getting the callipers on and off was a lot easyer than i thought it was going to be ....takes time be thats no problem ' laying on a carpet and a pillow made life very comfortable 'so the callipers are no problem? going to soak the rusty bolt with some WD-40 !

Hi,

If your's is a trailing arm set-up you just need to remove the 4 nuts holding the drive shaft to the diff and the long horizontal bolt attaching the trailing arm to hub. Then there will be enough movement in the trailing arm to full the drive shaft off the diff.

When I ready your profile I saw North East and failed to notice the United States bit on the next line. Now that would be a trip and a half to use a lift biggrin
