Hi All,

Subsequent to my recent previous posts ( thank you each and all for your advice, really appreciated) I've now sourced a set of stage 1 heads and hopefully I will have sourced a uprated camshaft.

So not quite sure if I am confident to replace the heads and cam or should leave it to an expert and then indulge in a rolling road session for a true set up. Either way in the interim (this summer, as don't want the car off the road smile ) I will go about collecting all the bits that I need for the heads and cam replacement. The list I have so far is :

1. Inlet manifold gasket - would you recommend tin or composite ?

2. Rocker cover gaskets - cork or rubber ?

3. Composite Head Gasket

4. Exhaust Manifold gaskets

5. New timing chain and wheels. What is the school of thought ? Invest in JP Duplex or go with standard ? IS the extra £100 worth it ?

6. Stud cleaner (if I do it my self)

Please would you be so kind as to add what I have missed

Many Thanks

Jeremy

Either, rubber, and a steel timing wheel (they are not noisy.) The rest is good.

I recommend a small mod which is to drill a 5mm hole at the front of the valley to allow some oil to dribble onto the timing chain.

Cripes. Does that mean that without this mod, the timing chain runs without any lubrication getting t it?

It gets some but only what is splashing around behind the timing cover. This mod isn't essential (99.9% of engines run without it of course) but it allows a little more lube in this area.

Phew, thanks Adam! I was worried for a bit there.

If you have metal head gaskets the composite will slightly lower the compression ratio mind doubt you will notice the difference.
