Has anyone here installed an ARP stud kit?

After putting the studs in finger tight (and did you use any loktite etc?) then what torque did you put on the nuts?

I've got the kit but no instructions, on their PDF it says:

5. Following the engine manufacturer’s torque
sequence, tighten the nuts to the recommended
torque value found on the instruction sheet
provided with each kit.

Also does anyone know the specification of the fine thread? I have an extra bracket to bolt onto one of the lower (exposed) ones on top of the nut.

Just nip the studs up with allen key, nothing excessive, no locktite. You could very lightly oil the threads. Lube everything with the moly lube, washers, nuts and threads and i did mine to 30, 50 and then 75 ftlb. Re checked the following day and they went a little bit more.

I think Phazed did his to 85ftlb. but mine seem fine at 75. Not sure what you mean about the bracket fine thread thing.

Thanks Mr Carsy. I posted the same question on the chimp and griff forums and the mods deleted it - well thanks for nothing. It was a genuine question for _all_ RV8 owners.

The extra bracket is a supercharger mounting. The original bolt has a UNF thread sticking out the top to bolt the bracket onto. But I think the ARP stud might have enough thread poking out to use for the bracket, killing two birds with one stone ;^)

Yes typed on that and then it disappeared. I think a few are running them on the Chimp forum so you may get a few other replys.

If either of you have any pics of the installed studs please post them up - I'd like to measure up how much thread is sticking up over the nut. E.g. the one below cylinder No. 1.

Rimmers phoned me back this avvo and confirmed the 80lbf - done in 3 equal stages.

I'm glad I didn't pay extra for the Saturday delivery - that woulda been a complete waste.

Top tip for installing on the Wedge (may also help elsewhere) put all the studs in first to make sure they fit smoothly. Put on the head gasket to make sure the holes are in the right place. Then remove all except the end ones and put the head on - this allows much more clearance especially on the tight driver's side. Pull the head up half an inch for a bit of wiggle room, and then reinstall the remaining studs using a 9/16" (as I recall) hex key to do them finger tight.
