Hi

Following a discussion on the Wedge Personality of the year thread!

A idea has been suggested that we present Oliver Winterbottom with either a Tankard with a suitable wording Cost approx £20 to £25 or a item similar to the "wee-man" trophy this would be a bit more expensive but it would be a more fitting way to thank Oliver for designing the car we all love and enjoy driving, tinkering with etc.

or

With suitable wording.

The cost would be cheaper than what we paid last year for the "wee_man" trophy as it would be a little bit smaller and the art work has already been done! But
I think the cost would be approx £200

I am happy to start of a collection for this!

What do you gents think!

Just another thought - How about one of the Wedge models you can buy on e-bay or anywhere else for about £45 and fit a larger plinth to it with his name and what ever else you want to say.

Thats not a bad idea jonny...There are two pewter wedges on the first link which could be mounted on a nice piece of mahogany with a little engraved plate...

Or a SEAC which seems to be the only model available now..

Hi

A fund has already been started and stands at £50 so far!

If anybody wants to add to this so we can present Oliver with a fitting item to thank him for his design which has brought so much enjoyment, frustration, thrills etc to so many off us!

Because he's the man behind the Wedge. About 30 years ago he did his job and we're still enjoying the results, so he did it right. And if nobody's got any money, how can we afford filling up our gas tanks for bobbing and banging?

I'm in. Andy, is there a nominal target amount of one crediter?

Eero

Thanks for your comment, that about sums it up!

Ref a donation you put in what you want, as we haven't decided on a cheap item or some thing a bit more impressive, anything you donate will help!

Any monies left over would go into the usual Charitys etc!

At the risk of causing an argument (about whose wedge might be in it...) how about a large framed photograph of a wedge (or some representative wedges - probably 280's as that what he designed), with a plaque on the bottom engraved with something suitable. You could do it on canvas for the arty look.

Hi Adam..This was the idea for the auction plus when i was speaking with oliver last year he had just got rid of some paintings of prototype TVR's..Would of loved to of seen them!..So im not sure he would want anymore..I think he will enjoy the wedge inside the glass better..And i could get the base made up from real english burr walnut..Not veneer! as i know a furniture restorer/french polisher with a trunk of it..And have a nice brass plate engraved with some kind word's thanking him for giving us the pleasure of the Wedge..Ziga

Fair enough - if he's just been clearing out paintings the last thing he'll want is another one!

Anything drink related would be highly appropriate - what about a tankard with a burr walnut stand?

On the trophy, shouldn't it be Wedge (with a cap W) as it is a name/title?

Well in fact its a nickname!

TVR never sold it as a wedge hence the small w
