How do I find details of my engine spec please ? NCK048
Discussion
Hi Ian give Dom ( TVR POWER ) a call as he would of biult the your engine, the NCK stands for NORTH COVENTRY KAWASAKI which Dom used to run back in the day.. Dom also biult all the tuscan race engines under the NCK banner... This all may be conjecture though as i do some times talk a load of b@ll@cks

I had this problem once, when I bought a 450SE and the log book stated 350SE. I knew it wasn't a 350SE because the shape of the body is different, but the 400SE and the 450SE look identical and I wanted to verify that my purchase was a 450SE. I took the car to TVR Barnet (who have since closed down) for verification. They showed me that under the dip stick on the engine block there are a series of numbers. From memory, I think the central numbers on the block is the actual cc.

It's a pretty safe bet that if the engine was a 4.2-spec unit, the car would be wearing 420SE badges and not 390SE ones. Also, if it was a 4.2, driving it would be a bit of a clue: it's like being thrown off a cliff, where the 390 is merely like being given a good shove.
The actual spec. is as variable as a woman's mood: some 390SE engines had every tuning trick in the book, some were little more than over-bored and induction-ported 3.5L units.
