Yes I know there are plenty of posting on shocks but, I cant find anything that reviews what people have done.

So the survey is.....

What shocks have you got?
What Springs Have you got?
And what do you think of them?

I've got std 350i springs from RT racing and a set of AVO's and once its all set up its pretty good plus AVO's can be rebuilt by the factory ( in northampton)for 15 quid. My feeling is that Konis are a superior shock but you try finding a set.

Front - RT adjustable (don't know the manufacturer as the labels were taken off! but they are gold coloured)
Rear - Koni adjustable

I changed the front Koni's because it was all over the place, white-knuckle ride over the slightest bump, even in a straight line! The new ones from RT are a vast improvement and can be adjusted on the car if you don't have sausage fingers! I didn't realise I had Koni's all around until I fitted the gold ones otherwise I'd of tried adjusting them up a bit first.

Springs - RT
Shocks - Redline

Overall feels good, a lot better than my old avos (which were probably tired anyway). I am thinking about getting RT to cut the springs a bit though, as car seems a little too jacked up.

Adjustable AVO's all round. Slightly uprated springs front and rear.
I think there are better shock out there ie Nitrons, but they are a lot more expensive.
At the end of the day how deep are your pockets?
The AVO's seem good value for money.

Rear Springs - standard 350i
Front springs - the stiffer ones off the 390

Spax adjustables all round for the shocks.

Nice and stable goes round bends like its on rails. no roll, but a slightly hard ride , 'cos that's the way i've set the shocks up!!

Front and rear springs - Standard 400se

Front and rear shocks - Fully adjustable Redlines (fitted this year)

Bushes all round replaced by appropriate nylon / plastic types by RT racing.

Overall very happy with car now. Rides better, corners better, handles mid corner bumps well, less grounding of the exhaust!

Yup, I have those on the front

No idea what they are, but there are Spax adjustables at the front too. Std at the rear.

What is the purpose of your enquiry? If you are looking to buy some will they be for road use or biased towards a track set up?

Richard used to have them made up specially for him.

Can you get them cut and have the ends turned so that they seat properly? It may be easier to get new springs.

IMHO that's a good summary.

Also have the advantage that you don't need spring compressors to change them.

Took the 400SE to Richard Thorpe about 18 months ago & put 10% uprated springs all round, re-poly bushed all round and put 18 click adjustable redlines on each corner - with adjustable platform height on the back.

I have the rears set on 9 with the fronts on 4 and with a new set of Toyos on it corners like it's on rails - superb. (Richard also laser-set the wheel alignment too which helps...)

To be fair I was that impressed with Richards suspension & chassis knowledge that I've signed him up to help prepare the chassis & set up the new springs & suspension on the White Elephant - which will also be shod with a brand new set of 245 45 16 Toyos.. seems like a winning combination to me!
