Could anyone recommend a decent car cover for occasional use?
Along the lines of good fit, doesn’t damage paint work and easy to use and store
Thanks in advance
Tim

Indeed they are mate but cheap ones damage paint work as i found out!..Over the last 2.5 years i have bought 2 x halfords @ £60 ea which i used to cover a Breathable fleece cover that didnt quite cover the whole car @ £40..Total = £160...Whereas i should of splashed out on a good one to start with...Mind you round here the pesky kids would probably nick it and use it as a tent over the park.. laugh

PS:I did mean to say that these are not a bad price...The others are pricey...

I use the Advan-Tex covers sold on here and have nothing but praise for them, they are not cheap but as they say you get what you pay for. It is made bespoke and fits like a glove, coming with 4 x straps and a bag made of the same material for storage, even taking into consideration a spoiler if stated or tax disc viewer. I have had one for a year and it has been great through sun, rain and snow. I have just invested in a second one for another car.

Forgot to mention these covers are used all year round, hence the investment!!!!

I also have original Leven cockpit and bonnet covers, these are great in reasonable conditions but due their dated design, in extreme wind, I have seen the elasticated holding straps that run through the boot, cause some serious marking from rubbing on the paintwork which I was able to remove, but would not use in such conditions again.

The Monsoon doesn't look bad and I only want to use it when I'm staying over night somewhere.
I found out over the weekend that when parked and it rains water comes through the bonnet vents and collects around the battery area

Just a note, I bought the Mosoon cover back in August and it is already splitting around the boot spoiler, however it is very windy up here on the Yorkshire Moors. Clips can rub on the sills a bit. Fits ok but not perfect.

I do park on a slope and always get a stream out the boot seam where the rain puddles on the cover, but saying that it does seem to keep the inside dry.

Cheers

Does that when you wash it aswell! I was thinking about fitting the bonnet vents I bought but have thought that they would let more water in. Im sure it cant do the battery any good sitting for periods in water that has collected around it, I know it buggers them up when just left sitting on concrete let alone water. You need a portable garage mate.

I have two car covers in my garage that I don't want, or use, or will ever use. One came with the wedge I have now, the other came with a TVR 290S I previously bought, but both covers look about the same size. Both are the same make for indoor and outdoor use. I can also test on my wedge to see how well they fit. From memory I think they are Storm or another well known make. Both have a small tear nearer the edge of the cover somewhere, one of them has two small tears the other has one larger tear, that has been patched up with duck tape. They are fairly thick and heavy, previously used, but still very usable for someone who needs a cover. I don't want any money for them, if you, or anyone else can find a way of collecting from me from North London. I can also post if you pay the postage, only they are fairly heavy so I don't know how much it would cost. It has to be on a first come first served basis, so pm me if you are interested.

Update:

Both car covers now spoken for. Apologies to ones who missed out.

The two free car covers I mentioned earlier have now been spoken for. The first two who have responded will be getting an email from me today to arrange collection. You know what they say, 'early bird gets the worm'. my apologies to the ones who have missed out.

I finally managed to get a "Leven" cover for the 400SE after almost 6 years of trying to locate one.
Thinking of also getting a Carcoon "Bubble" to put the Wedge in side when she is laid up in the garage. (noticed some mold starting on the carpets, so need to stop this)
