Just been out in my wedge for the first time with the roof off, I took my 8 yr old to her dance class in it and then had a cruise around.
My daughter, as soon as I started it started grinning (and me too lol) then when we were on the way she turned to me and said " this is awesome" I couldnt disagree. Despite its little niggles (accelerator stuck wide open when I restarted it after dropping her off, cured by hooking the pedal up with my foot) I love this car biggrin

Havent you seen it already Zig?
It was the one PK500 acquired with the e-type so it is solid and mostly works but will be a shoe in for the rat-look prize if I make it to wedge fest, the paint is terrible, loads of discolouring and peeling of the lacquer, and in the interior the green carpet has gone really patchy, it has faded a lot, but not evenly so it looks a bit weird.
And all the door card and stuff from the drivers door is sat on the back shelf at the moment after I took it off to fix the window.

I think I might have sussed why the throttle jammed, there is a grommet where the cable comes through into the engine bay which seems to have broken up allowing the cable outer to move and presumably catch on something.

Mine was the same and i used some black tac around the hole that it goes through which did the job for ages..Since it has been in the garage for the S/C fitment i have noticed a grommet around it now..I dont think they removed it to fit one on..I will ask him monday and see if he has any spare to send you...Cheers..Ziga

there you go zig.

I havent any better photos of the interior yet, or any of under the bonnet. Under the bonnet it looks pretty grubby tbh, looks like a 30 year old car!

If you can get me a grommet it would be much appreciated thumbup

How should the hood attach down the sides? I have some velcro on both sides that once upon a time was glued to the body but it has come off, is this right?

Thanks

Andy

Looks ok mate..The paint looks the worst bit but then the main thing is getting running right and then the rest can be done at whatever pace you can..Mine was a right ole state when i bought it..It looked ok from the outside...

When i first bought it.

A Very troublesome engine.

Dry scabby roof.

Rat eaten seats.

Now.

Reliable supercharged engine.

Nissan seats and new centre console veneer..Handmade handbrake cover...New rocker switches...custom made alloy switchgear...Handmade walnut horn push..

Still got the interior...Hood and wheels to do and hopefully thats getting done before the fest..Cheers..Ziga

Sorry i forgot to say..Yes velcro was glued to the roof and bodywork just behind the top of the doors..Clean off as much old glue as you can and use a good contact adhesive..

Bearing in mind that this is a 30 year old car with about 93k miles it starts first turn of the key, revs well, autobox works as it should, brake pedal is fairly heavy but the brakes work well (nearly 1k bill for new rear discs, pads, caliper refurb and brake pipes last year). And it has PAS which was a pleasant surprise.
On the inside, the wheel is ok, the dash laminate is pretty good (minor cracks to glovebox lid) the seats are good, no splits or cracks and were comfy on my 200 mile drive home, where it sat happily at 65-70 on the motorway with no issues at all.

apart from the paint and the manky looking carpet everything else I want to do are just niggles, like the door lock not working, the hood being loose as the adhesive that fastens the sides of the hood to the body has failed and the leaky roof seals

I said about on the mileage because the odometer has stopped working, the speedo works perfectly (and is pretty accurate according to GPS) but neither the trip or the odo work at all.

I am sure I will get all the niggles sorted soon, I think my MIL has a large offcut of plain grey carpet tucked away in her loft so thats the carpet sorted at least temporarily, the electric windows it seems to be the motors/channels need a wallop and some silicon lube so that is an easy fix the hood needs sticking down which is straight forward to sort and thats it sorted to a good usable level whilst I save up for the respray, my daughter is trying to persuade me to get it sprayed yellow, wife says I cant spray it red, me I dont know, I cant decide whether to keep it silver or change its colour.

would a wedge look ok in signal orange?

like this

When I tipped the seat forwards I realised the carpets were originally brown!
now they seem to vary between brown, quite a nice green and a really nasty faded patchy green.

This has lead me to find something nasty though, just noticed that the seatbelt stalk on the passenger side has broken off and a repair done involving a small bolt through the seat base!

The original bolt looks to be rotten, rusted solid so it is going to be a complete PITA to take it out, so I reckon it will be a case of taking the seats out, taking the carpet out and chop the bolt out of the floor. Is the bolt glassed into the floor or does it attach to the chassis somehow?
What car did the belts come out of originally?

Hi Mate..Dont want to be the bearer of bad news but i believe the seat belt bolts are part of the outriggers..Unfortunately the only way of telling is to remove the sills as they can look okay on initial inspection but further investigation might open up a can of worms..Im not sure as to where the seat belts came from originally, They might be a ford item??..New ones are obtainable..I did have a link but not sure what i did with it..I will have a look through my favs...Cheers...Ziga

Sorry I think I have fed you bad info there, it is the clip on the tunnel side of the car that is broken, about 1/2 inch above where it bolts into the tunnel.
the bottom of the seat belt on the sill side is solid.

Sorry to put the frighteners on you..I didnt read the post properly...You did say stalk..Not too bad to sort..Especially if you are changing the carpets..Ziga

PS:Orange for all other TVRs looks cool but a wedge somehow doesnt..Primary colours and fleck paint look good..This pearlescent red looks lush and if i was to go for any other colour then it would be close to this..lick

Hi

The seatbelt stalk is bolted through the body into the chassis the most common thing is they rust and that sounds like what has happened to yours. Its a pig of a job to remove the broken part with the body in situ!

The best way is to remove the seat and then you have to drill out the old bolt, But the seatbelt thread is not a commom size so to finding a tap to clean the threads is the hard thing, but somebody will have one!

Thanks Mr Tank, I had a feeling that was going to be the answer I got, annoying but never mind, I am sure I can fix it, if I cant, Haighy at aeromotive is about a minute from my house so I will be fine.

Andy - definitely YELLOW is the best colour for most TVRs and especially the Wedge

The Sagaris is the only odd one out that looks best in burnt orange

Cheers
