Black SEAC body at The TVR Centre
Discussion
Earlier this year in some previous discussions about Firefox and the thought that it had been crashed and rebodied, someone commented that they had seen a black SEAC body in the workshop at The TVR Centre in late 1986 and bought it, or parts of it.
I have tried to find that thread; albeit without success.
Was that Pistolar? Whoever it was, would you please come forward and tell us more about this incident.
Thanks
JJ

Me Me... a customer of barnet tvr centre had a black seac that was reboded due to constant paint problems and rippling. The rear half of the shell went to repair a seac that will remain nameless, with me buying the front half to repair a 420 seac which is now in holland and looking stunning.
Dont think that this was your car that was reboded as a seac shell was fitted. The old shell had moulded in sills and hence a 400 style chassis.
I have two theories regarding your car (without evidence):
1. someone got hold of a log book from a destroyed car and built up a pile of bits
2. its just a 420se
Another seac was mentioned on here recently, this being the one that hit a bridge. I spoke to the owner a couple of years ago and the car was totally destroyed the remains being put in a rented lock up whilst the owner recovered from the accident (long time from memory). When he finally went to the garage the remains had been stolen/removed. The thought was that they wanted the very special engine which ran webbers or dellortos or the council cleared it by mistake.
Note: this car could not have been rebuilt without a new body and chassis etc and its identity is known to me.

Interesting Pistolar - thank you.
I thought you had suggested in the old thread that the rebodied car could have been my car.
Why the mystery on the identity of the car to which the back end of this body was fitted?
I refer you back to the various other threads which show that the factory states it as a 420 SEAC when it left the factory, so it is most likely that the car has been rebodied following accident damage.
The HPI on my car is clean.
cheers!

not fair on current owner

tvr records cannot be totally trusted. Also as a stated the log book may indeed be for a seac but that does not mean that the identity is attached to a seac.

HPI is a fairly recent thing, also in past if you had a car repaired and inspected it would no longer be recorded.
cheers!
