OK this is a provisional figure because I haven't had the August bank statement yet, and there are a couple of deposits on it, which I'd like to see in black and white.
The BBWF bank account balance is a healthy £707.50 up after the Fest. This is to be split (as last year) equally between Help for Heroes and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
There were a number of "major contributors", I need to go through the figures in more detail and I'll post them up next week.
Well done to all who helped, contributed, and organised!
I enjoyed it "as a punter" this year, it was interesting to get a different perspective on the Fest, instead of running round like a blue-arsed fly!

for whoever/whereever is running the Wedge Fest next year?

The BBWF Fests have been run an informal basis with very few volunteering contributors taking on many responsibilities. When it comes to money then I feel that the discussions will get more heated than already written. It has been such a shame and derogatory to the event and its attendees to have read all the vitriolic comments.
I see at least two alternatives:

- Form a committee and all the consequences that entails
- Let the volunteers account for all monies and make it balance to zero within a very short time of each Fest

Money was always treated as a "dirty" word in the early days as the spirit of BBWF was FREE. A bank account was on the agenda but quickly dismissed as it implied ownership. Many Fests (and bigger ones) were held successfully without one.
Charity money was raised on the day via raffles and much bucket rattling by the people that wanted to do it.
Hotel rooms were booked and paid for individually - we had a block booking that never needed a block deposit - individuals payed their own deposit.
Out of pocket expenses? a few stamps, phone calls, pre site visits!! - volunteers did exactly that ie. volunteer.
Be careful guys or one day BBWF will become copyright! (even this was discussed and thankfully dismissed).
Just get on with it guys and leave the word money out of it

Actually BBWF is not free. We all contribute in some way apart from investing in the journey to the Fest.I predict that money and BBWF will be a difficult issue to resolve. Yes, we can leave matters as they are and be open to more derisory comments or we can do better.
What options do other Wedgers suggest?
I can see both points to this. If we sub monies into an account, how will we monitor it? People come and go from this forum, buy and sell wedges etc!
Though saying that, if were to place a very limted amount of monies into an account each month, would this work?

A contributory BBWF based fund was talked about a couple of years ago at a lunch meeting and i think that was the beginning of the BBWF fund/Account which initially was a good idea but this can generate a means of singular control which is something to be careful of especially as the event is dependant on all..Its all well and good for someone to organise such an event but if nobody turns up then its a total waste of time and effort..yes it would be a good thing if we could all contribute so that no-one person is out of pocket if a singular body has to step up to represent any aspect of bookings or attractions surrounding the event..If not the funds could be used for the food..i:e self catered BBQ and a free beer/wine for everyone who attends although going on the current price at the hotel it would probably use all the money up..so it would be cool boxes at the ready... 
Now i know that the hotel might have said no food or alcohol is to be consumed unless its bought from them but that is a load of bull..They still earn on the rooms and bar and im sure a polite conversation would help to establish this...
Now as far as the charities..I suggested one year that charity buckets should be provided and although it was frowned upon it actually worked..Adams wife amy did a fantastic job and raised a fair bit for worthy causes and also gave out some microfibre cloths that i donated..I also thought that giving the money to local charities would be a good deed..There is a stratford based charity that concerntrates on children living with bereavement after losing their parent/parents and the plan was to invite a small group of them to the fest to look around the cars and maybe go for a ride in them on the run out..Im sure the hotel could provide some refreshments for them whilst they are there as it would be a good bit of PR for them also..There would ideally need to be a cut-off time for donations and then the money could be counted on the day and handed over to the legal body accompanying the children..
Memorabillia..I have thought a fair bit as regards to this and maybe it would be better if a Mug printing machine was invested in as they can print Mugs..T-shirts and Caps on the day..T-shirts can be bought fairly reasonable in bulk and they are good quality, There could be a BBWF template but people could have a picture of themselves by their wedge or with friends printed on their shirt or mug..This would be a dedicated BBWF stall that would give people a little more option as pre-paying for items feels like it takes a little bit of the day out of the event and this would also leave any items unsold free from print so they could be used for the following year..i still think that the embroided shirts look more stylish but there perhaps needs to be a different approach on them as to avoid anyone losing money!..I personally think that time invested into such an event is the priority and not the money even though its relevant and some small investment is required in these times that we live in now..I also think that the planning for such events should have enough flexibility in the way it is formatted so giving rise to fresh suggestions and ideas each year..After all we want it to end up wedge shaped and not pear..Lets also remember that it is not an easy task to organise such events but should be an enjoyable one with the outcome relevant to the input...Just my ten penneths worth which is hopefully worth more than two...

Yes we have left a balance of £300 in at the enad of each year to cover deposits for next year on booking hog roasts etc.for whoever/whereever is running the Wedge Fest next year?
