Oh dear, we have lost one of our fold !
Discussion

Have a look at the 280 dead thread it tells you what happened.
No one hurt and apart from a bit of a hole in my drive nothing else damaged.
Just waiting for my mk2 escort to sell on eBay so I can put its replacement in the garage, deal already done but don't want to upset my wife again by bringing this home before the escort goes
I saw the original thread and depending on how bad it is/was I'm sure someone could take another "poorly" wedge and make 1 from the 2.
IF I had the time/money/inclination I could use my "spare parts kit" 280i's body and you'd have a good starting point.
Any idea how much damage the heat did to the Chassis? (replacing a few tubes shouldn't be too hard for the right person?
I'd say its by no means dead and burried just yet, but would need the right person (does Mr Tank want another wedge? lol) to bring it back from the brink.

It was a bloody hot fire, all the gelcoat has gone from the passenger side wing and the front part of the sill, I wouldnt be surprised if there was warping to the chassis tubes on that side, it was hot enough that it burnt all the plastic coating off the fence 2 feet away from the wing!

This parrot is dead !!! Cat B break only
So you'd have to take the remaining "bits" off this one and add them to the other car?Does sound like it is MUCH worse than it looks sadly.
Hey ho it happens...but at least there was no injury etc so could have been worse.
I'd be well gutted if it happened to my wedge.

Sat on the front step staring at for a good 10 minutes after the firebrigade left.
It was very dusty out there.
Looks like it's turned up at Douglas Valley breakers:

Markthe back brakes had been recently refurbished (have a bill in the folder here for a grand for new discs/calipers etc)
The hood is in pretty good nick, could do with new seals on the targa but otherwise ok

Have a look at the bonnet for sale, the bonnet latch is falling out of the fibreglass. It looks completely fhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TVR-Tasmin-Seats-TVR-Wed...
ked to me.And where they want to cut the front clip off is a bit surprising to me, I am pretty sure there is no gelcoat left in the wing on the passenger side where they want to cut it off.
Im making a list of the bits i was going to salvage..Im trying to set up a small refurb service for some bits..But its a case of grab it while you can..The seats look in good nick..look like leather also..I think most were vinyl..I would buy most of it but i dont have an awful lot of storage space at the mo...I will be speaking to them in the morning so if there are any bits you definitely want then let me know and i will ask them to put them to one side..But please only if you are definitely having them...Cheers...Ziga

A thousand quid for a brake rebuild!? Did that include titanium calipers and pads carved from solid gold?Just spoke to douglas valley to reserve some parts..Unfortunately the exhaust manifolds are on flea with the engine..I was going to use them as a template for some re-manufactured in stainless steel..They would be designed the same as the cast ones with the twin siamesed ports accounted for..
Unfortunately the mirrors are melted and the wheel centre caps are sold with the wheels..
I have reserved the rear hub assemblies and a few other bits..Some of which i hope to refurb and offer out to exchange..We will see though...
Marcus..I will reserve the hub assemblies for you as i know you had one welded up...Hopefully they wont sting me too much as im not in it to make money..And more importantly to lose money...Cheers...Ziga

Well Andy..I think you should of stripped and sold the parts on as i have just had an email from the said breakers and they want 125+ Vat for each pod motor..The same for the wiper motor..17.50 + Vat each for the dash switches and i wont say what they want for the hub assemblies..Jesus wept..Think i will stick to robsport for headlamp motors...Proper tearing the arse out of it...Ziga
